Planetside 1 was not so lucky. I haven't played the second iteration though so am unable to comment. Most FPS seem to pool their resources into programs like PunkBuster though, maybe because hacking in FPS is seen as a really, really big deal.

I've not played a lot of PS2, but I've never ran into anything I can tell was an auto-aim in the hours I have played it.

And Blizz has thrown a ton of man-hours at the issue, too, to clean up bugs and holes in the scripting engine, potential hacks through the client, and such. It's been a lot more than 1% of 1% in the past, though, using "illegal" scripting and bots.

Retail WoW is literally plagued with Chinese gold farmers. They like to tell everyone it's under control but in reality they make boatloads of money from those subscriptions. It's basically a pay2win game and they don't have to receive any flak for it. Honestly though I don't know why anyone would buy gold since it is so mindblowingly easy to get. It's probably mostly guild leaders and 10 year olds who buy gold. The economy is virtually nonexistent.

You know, sometimes camera is fixed not because someone was not able to do this. For example in Path of Exile the camera is fixed because their game designers decided that this will bring more "oldschool feeling" into the game (Also they used this fact to optimize their static 3d models for the specific angle only to gain more performance)

No matter the size of your game, someone is going to reverse your client and figure out how to hack it. Smart programmers are an odd bunch that get fixated on the strangest things. They don't all build world changing apps, systems, and code.

Yes, Blizzard have problems with bots. But i think 10000 botters out of 10000000000 players is acceptable situation. At least it is much better then 300 out of 500 we had in legacy. For sure you cannot be save from client modification, but every barrier you add to prevent it requires more work to pass it. Right now everyone who knows java or anything about programming can go and add something into the client. But what if there will be no source code and the hafen.jar will be obfuscated every week with the new namelist every time? Then you can only work on protocol level (if you know it) i believe. You will spend more time to deobfuscate the code every time then you will actually play with this version.

When APX acknowledges Haven's bot problem, the game has a bot problem.

When the game is broadcasted as "Chores: The game" and then the community proceeds to just say "fuck that noise, bots ahoy!", I'd blame the community to some extent as well.

Though I can only blame the community so much before I see their point, it gets annoying to work on certain things after a time, but even then, I don't see it as a reason to bot, it's not like anything in this game is impossible to do without the right amount of determination. Sure, some of the mechanics are a bit tedious to the point of annoyance, but I've never felt like I need to bot because certain tasks are so god damn annoying.

People are just lazy, it is a human flaw, and will continue to be a problem until it is outright banned and draconian law is set up reguarding modded clients, (which I never see happening unless the devs just fix up the vanilla client and give people more Quality of Life improvements on there)

Some clan from Mortal Online came to Darkfall: New Dawn, and following the lead of their semi-literate commander, managed to knock off a group of veteran players in a siege: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vsdvAf1 ... e=youtu.be

...? When have I ever blamed the community for using bots, or for pretty much anything?
