I'm not sure Warthunder is suitable for co-op PvP like I was thinking about. There does not seem to be any coordination in the battles..

You can play with your friends and fly together or go with tanks together.
One viable thing is to fly with bomber and then have friend to protect you.

dogfighting is quite chaotic. it takes a lot of training to learn to do it in a coordinated fashion. highly trained combat pilots take years to learn it well, and then it still turns into a furball after first contact.

The game is fine if you play it on realistic mode, arcade mode is chaos. You need tactics though, like understanding the specs of your and your enemy planes to use altitude, turn time and wing breaking speed to dogfight effectively. I like it because its rather realistic. For example, I remember the real life red baron said he, once, tailed his opponent for 20 circles to get the right attack angle, and thats the feel I get with this game too. If you have a team then its even better.

CK2 and EU4, best eugenics and genocide simulators around The fact that jorb worked with them may or may not have contributed to that.
I only know the names of first nations tribes because of those games.
