In HnH terms, the skull essentially teaches you murder without needing to spend any lp. You can still unlock the skill in-game but it's much harder than simply buying a skull

What the fuck are you explaining? Thats totally wrong.

And it's much MUCH harder to unlock without the skull, than it is in Hafen. Think of several million lp worth of effort.

Noone right in their mind would actually put the effort to train it on a character and use it. Penalties for murder are much harsher in Salem, so a murderer char usually dies within few days max.

Woah, calm down there son. What's wrong with how I explained it? And if I'm wrong, then please explain to me what the skull actually does.

I've noticed from server stats that Popham seems to have been less than populous, but as I haven't followed the Salem forums or so, I'm a bit curious as to exactly why. Not least since I've at times considered if a similar structure (what with one very permanent server and one more frequently "cycled" server) would be suitable for Haven.

It's because the only people who play salem are afraid of PvP and just want to perma-grind stats. A PvP dedicated server for that game will be, and was just boring.

I would just like to apologize to all of you for Claeyt. You may or may not remember me from last time Claeyt ran amok here and embarrassed the entire Salem community, but I am one of the devs there and I run its forums. Claeyt's opinions are absolutely not our own. We have a lot of respect for Jorb and Loftar and the wonderful games they made in Haven and Salem and we'll always be grateful they let us buy Salem and run with it rather than simply let it die when they found they didn't have time to develop both games.

As for the Expedition: Yes, it ended today and Darwoth won it. We will be launching another one, and we hope to use our first experience to improve it greatly, but we have not announced a date for it as of yet, so this thread is a bit premature. I hope it hasn't detracted from the new world I hear HnH is about to launch.

Loftar: Popham was populous in the beginning, but fell off when players found themselves unable to work together to complete the server goal and the server didn't end. We left it up to the players to end it, you see, and decided to let it continue until they did. We'll be adding some checks to that too complete freedom in the future.

ah Salem, haven't played it for years. To be honest I always hated the graphic design there, I would never have switched Haven for it but for the fact that during most of jobtars involvement in Salem H&H had the horilag problem.

To this day i think that loftars fixing of the horilag in world 6 is what finally drove paradox to abandon the project since as I remember it, a good half of Salems population switched back to Haven overnight when this game became playable again.

I know that many disagree but I think the one thing that Salem had right was the silver system. It was a lot easier to trade than tokens (that and the fact we had Plymouth to trade in). As I remember it as a lonely hermit there was a time when i was making an equivalent of 50$ a day in silver through smaller trades.
Hi Procne, good to see you again, if I recall correctly it was your stall that I was using back then to trade (you being the middleman).

We all agree Salem has been P2W'd to death, but I do have a question that I never really got answered back when I tried the game out.

What actually happens if you sail off the east coast of the world in Salem? Are there cool islands and such? Or is it just an impenetrable invisible wall somewhere out in the ocean?

I tried to find a world-map to answer my question, but apparently one doesn't exist
Filthy Casual on Salem Forums wrote:There is not, that would make the game to easy, and allow for people to find someones base from a screenshot based on the mini-map. There is however a mapping tool viewtopic.php?f=11&t=9617 that me and others use to map out the land, and what we have found, although most of us do not share it.
