If you had a gambling addict among your kin, wouldn't you want to help him? Even if he is convinced that gambling is the only thing that makes him happy? Especially then?

Also about the "his money", yeah sure and I agree when it comes to solo people, but if someone is supporting a family (children who can't take care of themselves) the money he makes becomes their money too.

[There is no end of things that pretty much everyone admits are unsound obsessions: such things as gambling addiction, sex addiction, excessive web browsing, and what not else. Why is it so obvious to you that gender obsession is not one of these things?

Because those things hurt people. Those things ruin lives. But being trans doesn't hurt; what hurts is how others react to being trans. Trans people who are supported instead of vilified and told they're sick are happy and fulfilled. The pain comes from not being accepted as who they are, not the fact that they're trans. A gambler can be encouraged, discouraged, or ignored, but in the end gambling can still hurt them and their loved ones.

In this hypothetical situation are my mother and father in an open relationship and her doing that wouldn't hurt my father? In this case, I would wish her well indeed. In fact, my parents are divorced so at the moment they don't mind if the other one goes to "have some fun", so I don't mind at all. As long as it's hurting nobody, it's okay.

And honestly, how is sex addiction not harmful? What if I'm so desperate I go out and hire a prostitute and get thrown in jail? Or get involved in a sex trafficking ring to sate my addiction? Or if I have an STD and go gallivanting around spreading it without telling my partners? Or I destroy my family because I've cheated on my spouse?
