I hear people often throw around the idea of Canada as an alternative to the United States with this subject. There are a few things you need to keep in mind about being here in Canada though:

1. We have quite strict immigration. You pretty much need to either have a provable post secondary education, trade skill, or enough money to buy your way in
2. The Greater Toronto Area is heavily overpopulated in an otherwise sparely populated country. I live in a 2 bedroom apartment that has had multiple roach problems and it's still $1600 a month in a lower class area. Detached houses start at 1 million dollars and they're not great. Living in the place that people always want to move to is VERY expensive and the quality of living isn't as good as people think it is. Move to any province but Ontario.
3. We really aren't nearly as much like the United States as people think we are. Honestly I think it's just that our accents are often similar. Canadians and Americans tend to get along but the cultural values are pretty different.

I've lived my whole life in Canada and have been to many places here in Ontario to live. It's not the utopia people paint it to be. It should not be considered an alternative to the United States when picking places to move to. It's just too different to consider them in the same category of choices.

Canadians and Americans have very different values and tbh most of us don't want them coming here lol

And it will probably have that for a long while. There are a LOT of very.. low islands near Australia. One or two meters more water and they become completely inhabitable.

This is the reason why immigration or refugees cause problems. Difference in culture, religion, any of that leads to problems. Most of them have no education whatsoever. They dont know the language. They dont even want to learn it. They dont work. They dont study. They only cause problems. They dont want to integrate.

Or, if the alternate theories of global warming come to pass, such as what could happen when the Greenland ice cap melts throwing Europe into another ice age, won't Finland be entirely too cold to live in? Then this might me you could be a climate refugee in your lifetime. (Then again, Finland could become more agrarian and have a strong food supply for the world that's in upheaval because of all the climate changes.).

Most people live close to rivers, seas, lakes. So pretty much everyone will be screwed in case of dramatic rise in water height. Floods and other stuff will be the first things causing a lot of issues. I keep ice age entirely possible given the circumstances.
But issues like that aren't really that big of an issue to me. Things like ice ages take hundreds of years to have any serious impact on Finland. Norwegians and Swedish would be in problems far before us.

So why should Finland care about refugees or immigrants? We really dont have things good way. But they are -not-the-worst I guess. Why should we make them worse by allowing those to invade our country?
As long as USA keeps conquering countries for resources, and making products in china that pollute and include lot of ethical problems. You are happy. So you dont really care about others.
Usual US citizen does not care and lives in his small little bubble. Which is an issue. Luckily USA is geographically located in area full of problems like earthquakes, hurricanes and volcanoes. Eventually one of these will probably cause a lot of destruction and they realize that they are not center of the world.
Places like Florida will get underwater. But that is not the biggest issue. Salt water mixes with aquifers and makes living there impossible, even if your houses wouldnt be fully covered in water.

USA is pretty much the cause of like two thirds of today's problems. Frankly I'm pondering going terrorist myself. Please bring a carton of milk on your way to my place, NSA.

Yea but life is so wonderful for everyone in the USA so it's all worthwhile right?

The irony is that the citizens of the USA shit on each other as much as they shit on the rest of the world. Please make way for China already, anything has to be better than you guys.
