I know for a fact you don't do a single one of these things manually, and I don't know a single person who does any of these things manually to a significant degree, except maybe studying gems.

I'm not disagreeing with you, just making an ironic poke at the fact that everything there is to "do" in the game, is mostly automated. If you remove the need to automate them, literally what else is there left to do?

I mean, if it takes 2 clicks to start a script to do a thing that takes 30 minutes how is that different for the botter than starting a script that takes 8 hours to complete? I mean, all of the same activities would remain there, except spiraling, they just wouldn't take so long to do manually.

Plus, maybe this is an unpopular opinion, but I actually enjoy Haven for reasons other than quality/stat grinding. Could make a pretty village, larp with nerds, go bludgeon hermits to death, it's all good. Personally my end game this world has been claiming everything.

Super reasonable, even playing part time.

Removing BQ would significantly reduce the number of animals needed, and by extension the amount of farm botting needed

Something like this is a good idea, feeding animals is always miserable and when we finally got some fodder crops botted it gave the game new fucking life for me.

Also the change to the pepper recipe is definitely good too.

Botting has been an issue in this game since the early worlds and has progressively gotten worse since that time. While changing mechanics to be better and less bot-friendly is still a good thing overall I don't think that necessarily means botting would stop. It is simply the competitive nature of a survival game and especially one with such a high requirement of time investment.

I noticed Xcom's blood maze pop up again and I've said it before that it's a very interesting and ambitious project but are you guys aware that it is entirely the product of botting? Or do you recall the botting client he worked on and all the scripts he wrote? I argued with Xcom a lot on this forum and over many threads (wow I was arguing? surprising, I know) regarding his position on why he created this client and why he wrote all these bots and scripts and his reasoning was that he enjoys it. Not for profit or personal gain, not to grind quality although he did those things too, but because it's something he enjoys. Now, how exactly do you reduce the incentive on that? And I'm not saying every botter/scripter that has contributed to that aspect of this game did it purely as a hobby but rather my point is that without any active policy and moderation of that sort of behaviour in place it will continue to happen.

I've argued against botters on this forum for years in vain and for the majority of that duration there have been many players in support of that behaviour or regarded it as a non-issue or just something else that "Kaios likes to rant about." Maybe it's because I tend to speak rather... candidly... that my points aren't always taken so well but hey, was I wrong?

Lol, yeah. The game has an auto harvest feature already and my fields are so big I can walk away for 20 minutes at a time. If someone were to walk up and say hi while I was farming shit I wouldn't respond immediately 90% of the time

If you read this thread, Ozzy even points out that he got what he had without botting and his char was a monster and so was his quality. Im not saying botting doesn't give clear advantages, because obviously it does, but the bigger issue is that, as i've pointed out in other threads, in the current system you can get so far ahead that people with less stats won't even be able to touch you because of how combat works. In legacy, botting was as much of a problem if not more of one, but if you werent on the bleeding edge of combat stats/quality you weren't fucking useless like you are now.

As i said in another one of my posts, i havent played in a month or so now, if i went up to the top fighter on the server there's a very good chance i could put 25+ cleaves into him with a b12 without killing him even if he was at 100% openings because of the absurdity of his quality. In legacy, if i cleaved someone with a b12 who had 6 times my stats and triple my quality (which btw, would never happen anyways because to some extent you got limited by clay/soil/water, where as you don't at all now) at 0% defense there's a fairly ok chance he would have just died anyways and if not, the second cleave would have killed him. The game too heavily rewards the stat/quality grind now in combat.

I’m skeptical that Ozzy expressed the whole truth, maybe he and his group really did not bot mining or spiraling but as I said earlier I am sure he benefited from the product of botting in some way during the time he was raising his own. Pretty sure he was with Hedgehugs this world and I would be very surprised if they didn’t trade things between each other. But you’re right though, the combat is awful and does not allow for much variation at all and with the way armor penetration works now, you either need to have kept up in quality to deal a decent amount of damage to any of those players or have 1000+ strength. Even then most fights still result in chipping the player to death if they aren’t totally newbie.

When will Haven be great again? When will Mexico pay for the wall?
