Cause it's 2025 and devs still didn't bother to set up server monitoring and notifications. Or, even worse, they know and don't give a two ***ts about it.

This. I mean, have a text-message based, or for more fancy modern solution for it (like PagerDuty, $25/mo per user), hook up a webhook from whatever monitoring system they have, get notified when it's down.
One can do troubleshooting/restarts remotely even, VPNs and SSH has been around for ages now. At least it would be worthwhile to keep the players updated on the status, a simple "we're on it" it plenty already
