Pretty much. Worlds largest military budget, so much bigger it takes the next 10 countries to add up to an equivalent value, and that includes Great Britain, Russia, and China. (If I recall that stat that gets bandied about correctly.)

Also, how you think we got the Interstate Highway System? It certainly wasn't from taxing the poor and middle class. (Fun fact: Taxes on the top 1% were about 90% under Eisenhower. fact check) If we'd kept that tax rate, we'd have colonized Mars by now and figured out faster than light travel. Cause, you know, there's no profit in that kind of scientific research, so who the hell is going to do it?
