Bot-foraging for so-called "rare" curiosities was not good for anyone. If you really dislike fate-based foragables that much, I'd rather just remove them completely.
Any system that gives diminishing returns to botters (or just generally people who keep doing the same thing over and over) is good, HOWEVER the rarity and the actual benefits of the fated curios are currently grossly disproportionate. If a pearl gave like 50k LP and an edelweiss gave 20k, people likely wouldn't mind as much. But if you're going to find one per month and it hardly gives more than a glimmermoss and has no other uses either, one has to indeed wonder why it's even in the game.
It's also a bit of a shame that there's currently not much point in raising exploration beyond the point where you can see mussels and glimmermoss. Exploring (and also unlocking new things as you build your character) has always been fun in Haven, so I hope you'll keep that in mind for future development.
Unexpected things you can stumble upon are generally good, be it uncommon/rare foreageables or other things. The new node system is really good in this regard - you might just find that 10/100/100 yellowfeet or cavebulb node and while it might not win you the game, it's still a nice find.
Travelling the lands far and wide also happens to be a discipline bots are not particularly good at, so there's that.
