So sorry for your loss, but please dont leave.
You are a nice trader and member of this comunity, come on, its an alpha and a toon is just a bunch of states, just create another toon and with the help of your villagers you'll be up states in no time.
But with a village to help, who need states ? And you got alts to. Its the player that is meaningfull, not the states of the toons.

That's really well said.

I refuse to name any of my characters after myself, because it's a character that dies, not the player. The player only dies if they quit.

But you call your characters... characters. But then there's "that" disgusting breed of players who call them toons, as if they're some fucking clown-esque skin-thing you wear as a means to an end.

Instead of developing the character and, well, giving them a character.

Yesterday it was an odd day. Beside frequent server crashes, I had one character with his HF trapped in a foreign claim. I could not log off that character, yet at one point the system said he is logged off (Amber message). I even checked the kin list on another character, and it was shown offline - candle unlit, yet there he was, standing idle on his Hearthfire. Another odd thing that I got was a sudden message from amber client saying that the character is online, yet it was never offline to begin with. I since then removed my character from that claim and logged him off correctly. I don't klnow if I can reproduce the above facts (maybe if I camp an alt on one of my claims and remove his permissions). Anyway I am at work now and cannot play. Hope it helps to prove there is a bug with logging off, so that the devs can fix it.

BTW - Maybe someone revoked permissions for you on the spot you logged off ?

Precisely. Characters are tools. I view them the same way I view a good quality sword ingame, a means to an end.

If there is any soul, or life to interactions between players ingame it comes from them. Not the 1's and 0's that exist on a server.

You're perfectcly justified in quitting maze. But if you do we'll have no one else to post travel journals and similar stuff, and that was really the only interesting thing to read in the Moot for us who don't care about murder counts. It would be neat if you kept writing stuff like that in some manner.
