I'm surprised archery is still so powerful. It has always seemed broken to me that you can easily kill bears from day 1 with bows and that players can still be 1 shot.

So not only do you lie about your numbers to save face, but now you're trying to imply that I died? 4 guys in steel on horses vs two guys on foot. One of you died, one of your horses died, and what did you get out of it? A murder alt who had 70 in each combat stat.
If you wanna brag about going even in a 4 vs 2 while on horses, be my guest.

This is perfectly fine. Bows are great but situational/support at the moment. We wouldn't want the meta to be 100% bow-based, and guaranteeing to hit people rather than their horses would certainly shift it towards that direction. Currently, it's not that hard to unhorse people, so I certainly wouldn't consider horses OP. Horses and bows bring complexity to group fights in a very good way.

After sleeping on it, I also agree with this.
Looking at it logically, I did 1 shot a guy in steel, so expecting to just pick everybody off whilst sitting in my boat immune to any retaliation was a little silly.
That being said, I haven't had the pleasure of having any land based, group PvP involving horses and archery, so I can't comment on how well archers will perform in that role, but in small skirmishes like the one I had with Aramore, archery is very powerful.

I don't think it's as OP as people here make it out to be though. I've had plenty of Spars with my friend, who had some decent quality bronze on and even then I wasn't able to 1 shot him, so either Aramore's steel is shit, or the guy who I shot dead has awful Con, which begs the question as to why he would lead the charge.
If that initial shot doesn't kill, then you're fucked if any melee guy closes the distance.

You look for loopholes and underhanded sure-things and then when they fail you feel like the game is cheating you. Tricking people into thinking you're traders and then gibbing them is shitty.

It's threads like these that make those rare good, clean, exploitless 1v1's so much more worth it to watch.

To clarify, horses have three 'lives'. When 'killed' by damage (generally in combat, but I've had it happen by cave-in as well), it instead becomes unconscious for - I think - 12 hours and loses one 'life'. Only on the third 'death' does it actually die.

Jesus christ, how many advantages does a horse give. What next? Is somebody going to tell me that they increase your MC by +50 because mounted soldiers have an advantage over non mounted ones, and also horses can randomly trample you breaking all defenses you have up.
