150% is never the solution, the only case I can thing of is when you are very hurry to reach your goal, and even in that case, 125-125 is the most current pratice, cause the 150 need more muscular work, and more brain work to target the final spot, and its all about lazyness.

This analysis sounding reasonable. I have definite use 150% strategy before though. It is especially useful in situation where you will go to taking 100% steps, but then platform will fall and you must readjust farther.

Sur, safty prime lazyness, I just talk about most frequent case.
It reach you view about looking ridicule : cool dudes are not afraid cause they are confident they are aware of there surounding, so they never do thing implying things like they are insure of if the floor will all fall apart or not, so 150% is never "cool".
but if you are unsure, 150% is the best, safty prime to coolness.

you should obviously take a 50% step backwards, then take two regular 100% steps to your objective.

but i find trying to quantify steps in absolutes is silly. no two steps are the same.

It is seems to me you have good order of priority.

I think this -50% -> 100% -> 100% strategy is more inefficient with same drawback and difficulty of 50% -> 100% strategy. What is benefit? And I think my step length is mostly consistent with other step I take.
