Should be the same for the forums. Remove the "plea for moderation" topic, then people will have nowhere to go and troll. I've seen forums where the opportunity to contest the moderator's decision has been granted: lead to spreading this rivalric attitude towards the mods, seeking the ways to provoke them and etc.
If they will want the decision to be re-considered, they should do it via PM and actually act with respect if they want to get what they need.

Not really. Letting to have this stupid club of whining kids is the same as having no quarantine zone and letting the plague to spread. Bad behavior is easy to be mistaken with something normal and cool. So people will try to behave that way. You are one of the examples of catching it, i'm afraid.
Want the pandemic to be over? Start separating the ill people in quarantine (ban).

Whilist wondering why Salem had more players than H&H, I decided to try it out again.
And the easiest explanation of so is that Salem actually runs well, my god, I can actually max out everything and still run around in a a gigantic forest filled with creatures and trees alike with shadows and AA, and not drop below 60FPS.

Not only that but it also seems like it focuses more on getting stuff and finding tons of content rather than just multiplying the same contents quality over and over again, so I assume it has a wider interest.

I guess Salem has more people simply for the WASD thing, the tutorial and maybe the in game currency system...and more advertisment linked to paradox.
The major problem of this game, in my mind, it's that needs to make people understand its potential in the first hour of play time....very hard to accomplish.
(maybe teaching new players how to light a fire could be a good step in that direction)

I just noticed that a rabbit hide dried in less than an hour so that's also big sign of why newbies would more enjoy it I suppose, starting out is fast and the game generally has something for you to do no matter how stuck you are.

IMO :
- there is not much to explore
- there is not much to hunt : in other games noobs spawn in zone were they can kill mobs, here mobs kills you
- there is nobody : in other games you got a chanel were noob can ask for help and meet others
- there is not social life : in other games noobs spawn in noobtown were they can make freinds and level together
