Rust.

That game has been on my wishlist for so long! I keep getting put off by the negative reviews, which are less than the positive ones admittedly but still pretty high. Now they have introduced decay mechanics, friends I have that were playing it have now abandoned it and the % of negative reviews rose drastically during December ... it's like I say here when it comes up, decay mechanics sound good on paper but in reality they are just tedious and time consuming.

Great that Haven got into first place! I wasn't expecting that either.

I got it recently, and I'm in love with it. I think decay is a good thing because it limits the size of bases, and the upkeep is more than managable for a small base. It's a great game as long as you can accept that your base will eventually be destroyed.

I'm not convinced tbh, they introduced decay mechanics in JS when it was still H1Z1 and at first it was novel and didn't seem too bad but once you got used to it and the majority of your playing time was spent running around gathering mats for repair, rather than actually playing the game, the novelty rapidly wore off! It didn't take long for the devs to remove it again, lol.

Maybe they haven't gone overboard with it in Rust, but it is still causing a lot of players to complain about it .. idk I'm sure at some point I'll give in and try it, everything else about it appeals.

Well ... litteral it's the best sandbox/crafting MMO out there right now where we have a free roaming/building world. I cannot see a better one with this kind of freedom.
Wurm is too old and cluncky, Lif is crap ( at least to me) ... all the others are instanced or not really sandbox games ( aka Albion, Black desert et similiar) , not sure about runescape cause never played that.

I think they planned on Darkfall winning.
Maybe they are now trying out Haven so they can later talk about the game.

I tried to talk about haven a little in their discord but thay were pretty into foxhole at the time and thay have said nothing since about haven there lol I do hope thay at least mention it next podcast

I don't consider Rust a sandbox or MMO. It has potential to be something great, but their game designers have no idea what they're doing. It is and has been a long winded PUBG for awhile. A server wipes, it's chaos for a couple days, then the server dies, repeat. There's no winners; only those who stick with the server long enough to see it wipe again. If it took some features from HnH, it could possibly be an amazing sandbox.
