Halal and Kosher both aren't a huge deviation from traditional diets, such as traditional Mediterranean, from my understanding, other than exclusions such as pork (animals must be cloven hoofed--cow, goat, sheep), catfish or shark (fish must have scales), etc, and certain holy rites. I know that's a gross simplification, and there's a lot more to it than that, but people can look it up on Wikipedia if they want specifics.

Speaking of Halal and traditional Mediterranean... it's been a long time since I've had mutton. Nobody else in my family likes it. Then again, nobody else other than myself and my late Grandfather liked duck, either.

I think that Karelian Pastries should be mentioned.
You make a thin layer out of rye and then put some rice inside it.
Tastes pretty good on itself, but even better with egg butter. (Hard boiled sliced eggs and butter mixed)
Originally potato was used, as there was no rice. But these days rice is most often used, though you can buy(or make) ones made from potatoes quite easily as well.

The only thing I will ask if you decided to avoid the video (I don't really care for an answer either but feel free) is how can you support something that you can't watch?

I help my family slaughter and butcher pigs every winter. There's no way in hell I could watch that video. I skipped to a random point and heard the narrator's tone of voice, and I was done with it. I just automatically assume anyone with so much pathos in his speech is trying to scam me.

Last night I was really really wanting a Big Mac mean from Mcdonalds but I ended up not eating anything.

I actually ate this for lunch today, but:
1/4 Liters of rice
180g of frozen shrimps
200g of frozen pea/corn/pepper mix
2 carrots
120g of Smetana
3 chicken eggs
some pepper

Chop the carrot, steam it.
Cook the rice, put carrots and all of the rest of ingredients in.
Mix and boil for some time.

Tastes good! And is pretty cheap as well!
