Seems I'm far older than most HnH gamers here. Built avionics gear for a silicon valley def contractor. Mostly missile stuff, some waveguide work. It was fun and interesting work, but the pay really wasn't all that great considering it was all mil-spec requiring reasonably high security clearances. I know some of my stuff killed assholes in war zones. Never lost sleep over it, so any self-serving virtual signaling appeals from the phony EU pacifists here at HnH will fall on deaf ears. But go ahead, do your worst. Self-employed for over a decade now. Trying to learn how to do some basic coding for some sideline money, but I think I need to take a formal class to get rolling.

Magicman? Dude. You'r pretty dour. All this Armageddon talk? Capitalism is failing. Famine. Overpopulation. Robots. Unemployment. RTump. Do you read news all day? Cause that shit will rot your brain. We'll survive Trump just like we survived Obama, Clinton and Bush. We can feed the world, and then some, but politician get in our way of realizing a lot of those notable and noble ambitions.

The EU failing is kinda concerning. Brexit. France is teetering. Germany lords over the small countries like they never lost WWII (what's new about that).

At times like this, I like to quote one of my favorite authors when asked why he writes the way he does. I paraphrase, but he said, "My job is not to dream about utopias, but to warn of the dystopias that could be."

edit: found the quote, and I'm got the wording all screwed up. The quote is: "I don't try to describe the future, I try to prevent it."--Ray Bradbury. If I recall the story, it was when he was asked about why he wrote about dystopian futures. (I'm assuming the site I found it on was accurate.)
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

1. Congrats on the degree Evilboy
2. im currently 18 practically out of high, very close (only need 1.5 credits and doing an online class to end it)
3. I started playing when I was 14 years old and my older posts show that, lol. ( I apologize, { even tho its not that bad } )
4. I work part time, go to school on the needed days, draw art and play games. I find myself with a lot time due to my age ( and efficiency I guess I dont procrastinate much ) which is coming to a close very soon, but im not worried as I am very competent in a work space and not a lazy jerk.
5. I hope to see and fear you all in world 11. Ciao

41, bored, with a crazy kid (he's normal, I'm too lazy, I think) and a wife I sometimes wish I never knew.
I worked (as an engineer expert in fossile fuelled PowerPlants) for a company owned by the State that went bankrupt. Don't ask. Here, in the Eastern Europe, anything is possible.
Since september 2018 I work in yet another facility owned by the state, but this time we are massively over-paid from EU funds. I write this while at work.
In high school and university I used to go to all national tests in math and phisics, learn for exams and tests 14 hours a day a week or 2 in a row, spending not a minute doing anything else than learning all this time, by my own will. I used to win every exam (get the highest grade of my class or whatever) just so I can laugh in the faces of my school mates. 1.81, a bit sadistic in real. Of course, some of my school mates jumped me and I used to beat them for fun. Probably a reaction to parents pushing me too hard, IDK and I definitely do not care.
As a child and then teenager, I used to climb mountains with my uncle in every holiday I had. I mean, climbing, not just sight-seing. I loved it.
These taught me since childhood that if you are persistant enough and put everything at stake, nothing can stop you, not even Mother Nature. Nothing. Especially not some mere humans.
Years passed by, I finished University, got a job, Now from time to time when they piss me I still remind other engineers what they could have learned in their University years if they paid a bit of attention. Or make fun of them. I never make fun of underpaid people working under me. Being under me I guess it is even worse than being underpaid and it is really not their fault. I try to not make it harder than necessary for them.
I try not to be tough with my poor kid, I sometimes fail miserably.
In games, I try to be peaceful, especially since in Virtual everyone is 1.81 and muscular. I like serving people smarter than me, making fun of those who do not seem smarter than me at all. Nobody really likes me being a leader of anything and I'd rather hermit than serve someone not better than me at that game. I'm usually a hermit.

EDIT: I wrote this wall of sillyness while I am at work, over-paid ;)

As a rule of thumb, everything that makes life easyer and less boring/grinding for players is a great idea. Everything that makes the game harder is crap coming from sadistic tendencies of Jorbtar helped by the few players with the same kind of disorders.

I'm unfamiliar with his work, but the premise of the book sounds like something I'd jive with.

Although I have some guesses as to the general direction things are going, I don't pretend that the future is anything short of an unknowable enigma. That being said, I do not live in fear of it, and I embrace responsibility for the consequences of my actions. If you call that gambling, then anything can be construed as gambling.

Hows your food production project going? Or are you one of the many gamblers who bank on coding and non essential skills carrying them once shit hits the fan?
Or are you the 3rd kind that accepts the responsibility of your past actions :D ?

i wouldnt call that gambling i would call that stupidity since every aspect of the future is not an equally unknowable enigma adn if u really believed that the future was an unknowable enigma then y would u b so certain u wont need 2 work because of automation i think ur not trying to live a minimalist lifestyle at all and instead ur just trying to avoid responsibilities ur life will fall apart when ur older and u will b a burden on society so much for taking responsibility for ur actions
