Even if you don't want to pay for a year at a time, 3 or 6 months is still a solid discount.

But isn't the whole idea of gold sub to give more money to jorbtar? :) If I want to save on it I can go silver or bronze instead...

That said, I have to admit that hats were a factor also in my gold subscription. I never thought of it like something granted though. If I get some patch hats it's a cool bonus. if not - I am fine with it. It was never promised anyway.

I know I am nitpicking, but it's still not accurate. :) For example you are comparing 12 monthly subscriptions to one year-long subscription which is quite an assumption on its own.

Better for what? We are talking about:

The Bronze-Silver-Gold levels are mostly there to allow you to throw more money at us if you feel like it

If I want to throw more money at jorbtar paying less is the opposite of better. :)

Of course, you lose this flexibility with annual subscription. If you subscribe for one year then quit in two month, you really are not saving money at all. I assume this goes without saying.

$35/mo is too expensive for me to justify for this golden subscription. $17.50/mo is not too expensive for me to justify, but it is still more than $4.17/mo they would be getting from me if I buy bronze subscription. Giving Seatribe more of my dollars is also not my only motiviation for this one. You can refer to final section of this posting for details.

Well, you could use the savings to subscribe a second account. That should give you the warm fuzzies.

I am playing on single account and if somebody wants to say that it's not the most efficient way:

It’s true that the most efficient and effective method of character progression is splitting up important roles between alts but I’ve always disliked that the game forces you in to activities that make you choose between creating secondary characters or for example ruining your stats because you have to perfom some labour intensive activity that requires you to keep your energy above 5k.

Of course, if you also want your alts to be the most efficient that they can be then you would need to purchase account verification and subscription for any subsequent accounts as well. You could simply have these alts all on one account but again for players that are attempting to increase their overall productivity this is not the most ideal method if you want to play on your main account while also performing some other tasks such as digging, mining, etc.

I don’t fault anyone for playing with this mindset but for me personally I don’t much enjoy trying to maintain more than one account/character at a time and yet in most cases it feels required in order to make any reasonable amount of progression whether it’s something as simple as creating an alt to create, extend and maintain claims rather than use a main character’s LP or for something more in-depth like a crafter alt.

I guess my point is that I agree playing on a single account would be a much more ideal situation and I would prefer to see store options that encourage and benefit players with this mentality over options that encourage the further use and abuse of alts/alt accounts. What that could be exactly or how it would be possible without major overhauls of specific mechanics to give less incentive to alt account creation and more incentive to the playing/maintaining of a single character/account I am not entirely sure.
