I stand by that. Meta strats should be as hidden from Jorbtar and regular complainy forum posters as much as possible. The game gets worse every time somebody decides to start a campaign of complaining about """broken""" mechanics like hunting, or knarr combat. The """fixes""" that come about are always awful, more convoluted than the previous system, and not iterated on for years while being left in their newly broken state.

If you guys want a guide on running you practically already have it from the hundreds of PVP videos on youtube, even if it isn't really spelled out for you 1:1. I'm too lazy to write a comprehensive guide. You should ask Wonder-ass. He's been talking about writing a guide for a long time.

Also, I'm not saying playstyles unlike mine are invalid. I'm saying it's a failure of the game and the community that people can lack the most fundamental PVP skills in a game with forced PVP after playing for a decade.

I said I'm not a PvPer. I don't actively seek out conflict. I have definitely been in PvP, often enough, as the prey being chased by PvPers. Things have gotten a lot better since Legacy when one hit decided your fate, but there still is no point to running when seriously outstatted if you don't have a boat or palisade nearby.

wtf are you talking about even with a silk belt you have a bunch of space for water skins, just don't take EVERY SINGLE TOOL outside your base. you need an axe and a saw in case you want to build some random shit like a cart(so this is rather optional), you need 2 traveller's sacks in case you need more inv space (also optional), that's it. weapon in your hands, rest water. how do you manage to put 2 (TWO) water skins in there and nothing else?

this sentence makes no fucking sense

running has nothing to do with stats, you are just bad at running if you can't run.

If you say that you carry 2 water skins and don't see what's going on when you run out of water, you just can't be helped man.

Run in a straight line (opposite direction from the person chasing you, that's important)

Walk over speed buffs that are in the direction you want to go.

Have forager credo and bunny slippers on, right click any critters that are in the direction you want to go, they're just speed buffs.

If they manage to hit you, use defenses.

Have water and drink it.

If you use these and your brain, you should be unkillable if they don't have a million horses and snekks. And even if they do, you can raw hide the horses and avoid where snekks can go.

Let's be real tho, the whole water chugging thing is a shitty gameplay and almost nobody actually enjoys it. So yeah, seems to me y'all want to play on an empty server, so just cope with it. And there's always a pretty good chance people will die to a lag spike or a client crash even if they don't make any mistakes, so forget about people learning to PvP when the time investment into character is so damn high. Ain't nobody with an actual life got time for that shit.

I 100% agree parts of the drinking rhythm game isn't super fun and PVP has a thousand problems with it at the higher end. None of what I'm saying RN is really a defense of current mechanics in an overarching sense.

IMO it's very important to differentiate the complaints of people who are just blaming random shit for their own failings. 95% of all complaints about PVP are from people who have never even tried to engage in it at a trivial level. They just start parroting each other, even after being corrected 100 times. It's absurd to me that these people aren't bullied into oblivion.

Jorb and loftar should just send an actual poll to their playerbase (past and present) to figure out what % of them actually plays HnH for the "sandbox pvp" experience or just for the extensive sandbox pve portion.

No need for polls. They can just check logs/statistics about how many characters frequently kill others.

this is completely invalid first few days of every world proves that the MAJORITY only stop being hostile because they simply can't anymore due to everyone advancing faster than them. the amount of times random shitters steal a boat or just straight up annoy you because you cant attack them yet is insane.
