Today they were all ready for fight.
I fought 2 and after they yielded I yielded too and yellow "45" appeared over them. I could leash them and tie to a post.
Third one bugged out - we fought, it yielded, I yielded, but no yellow text appeared. The animal was still in combat ready position. I could not leash it - "the animal is thrashing wildly". I could not feed it with clover. I initiate the combat again. It yields immediatelly (no fighting), I yield. It's no longer in combat ready position. I try to leash it but "thrashing wildly" again. I feed it with clover and can leash it again. Upon tying it to a post yellow "15" appeared, so I guess second fight reset taming progress

Did you box them in or fight them in the open?

In all cases they were boxed in at first. I initiated the combat from the outside, brought green, yellow and blue "shields" up, then opened pen, let animal run to me, and from that point we fought normally.
In case of the second and third fight (one succesful, one bugged) there seemed to be some hitbox issue where each my attack made me try to run into the animal, as if I wasn't close enough. Attacks always worked, but my character kept trying to run into animal anyway. It was pretty annoying as it made my combat interface shake a lot (imagine standing next to a wall and repeatedly clicking on the other side of it to move, and your character twitching). In the second attempt I just sufered through it. In the last one I tried to move after attacks hoping that my new position would stop the twitching.

Now that I think about it - the last fight seemed to be easier, as if the animal didnt attack too much. Maybe it had a problem with reaching me too?

Oh good, now we know it's possible. Quick question, do cattle feed off grass areas or do I need fodder.

Well, loks like my luck has ran out. This morning I had 8 animals ready for taming. First 2 went fine (although got only 20 progress instead of 30 like previous days). But then... 4 animals killed because they tried to run and I could do nothing with them (rope and clover didnt work). Another 2 animals locked in pen but again can't do anything with them.

This needs fixing asap.

Are people fighting their animals in OPEN and NON-OBSTRUCTED areas or are you putting up fence post signs?

I am actually starting to think it's intended and part of this "fate" system. Something along the lines - the more you try/do something the smaller chances you have. Few days after server start I found 2 chiming bluebells, none since then. My first heavy earth smelt yielded 7 bars, now I get 0 or 1. My first animal taming were pretty succesful, with 30 progress, now most animals prefer to run than get tamed

It's in animal husbandry skill description.
You find wild tamable animal, you feed it with clover and then use a rope on it. Then you use the rop on hitching post to tie the animal to it.
Now you wait several hours for animal to be ready for combat (you will see it by their pose). You initiate combat and keep beating it with punches until it yields. When you yield taming progress should increase. Tie the animal back hitching post and wait again. Rince and repeat several times until taming progress reaches 100
