I have no idea how long it actually take to walk a local map (the one that's slightly smaller than a minimap) but I assumed 30 seconds. Roughly, that would be a radius of 2400 tiles, and with a round world that's 18,000,000 tiles total. If each has just 1 mirkwood log and each of 500 players online was using 1 log a day, it would take 36,000 days to use them all up.

I think we can safely assume that there's many more mirkwood than that and they're being used up at a much slower pace. See you in 40 years.

but what if 15% of the map were swamp and each tile spawned 2-3 logs of mirkwood, math pls :)

The same amount or more is water and has no mirkwood.

If I had to guess, though, the number of mirkwoods in the world is probably, like everything else, more than we could ever reasonably use through normal gameplay, even if the world is destined to last twice as long as those before it.

I would not be surprised if 100,000,000 was a conservative estimate.

36 isn't long, but 36,000 is.

It was probably a joke in that 36.000 > 36,000 for most of the world.

The difference of course lies in what exists, and what's reasonable for humans to collect. It'll be just like gas scarcity over time, the effort to find more logs will eventually outweigh the benefit.

It wouldn't surprise me if logs do decay if left for any length of real time, like 30 days or more. We've just reached that point in server life.

Commas are a soft separator, whereas a period is definitive. Somewhere, some European canhead got their screws mixed up, and thought that dividing large numbers with hard separators was a good idea.

Maybe for phone numbers. 1.800.867.5309. Maybe for internet addresses. 192.168.1.29. But 1.000.000.234,01? What kind of moonspeak coordinates are you selling?

...but you can create moar mirkwood with logs just left in a bog to rot?
