Muslim here. This whole Genie/ Jinn story made me rofl. Sadly, speaking truth, the art of communicating with Jinns together with Black magic has vanished altogether from the Arab world right now. Though the practise is shunned by secular Muslims and the religion, its still practised by some underground sorcerers called "Babas" who claim that they have the powers to manipulate Jinns for solving domestic disputes.

How is following the Quran, Haddith and Sira to the letter is sullying a religion? If anything they are honouring the Prophet's words and wishes. You must understand that the Islam is truly a religion of peace and love....but only if everyone follows the right faith

My life isn't boring, but it is simple and all that means is that I never have to worry about anything beyond whats happening right here and now.

Alot of people in '33 up to '39 had exacly the same mindset as you have now. Things didn't turn out so good for most of the populace.

I dont really understand what interpretation you speak of, can you show me an example? Most religious books are very clear in their message and rules. Sure, The 'stories' can have multiple meanings and interpretations if you will. The rules and law of God are pretty clear and according to the text there is hardly any/no room for interpretation.

I'd also love to learn on how islam wasn't like that and it can change again. The history books show different things.

the arabs were at the forefront of science and technology when europe was a starving bunch of illiterate idiots burning people alive for having the gall of building in stone (because only the house of god could be made of stone) and that kind of thing. think around the V to XIII centuries b.c. meanwhile on the other side of the mediterranean the muslims were studiying copying and translanting stuff like platon and aristoteles among other motherfuckers that practically invented western civilization building awesome stuff, etc. the thing is between the crusades the mongols fucked the balance of power and old grudges held in check by the empire (kind of like happened to ancient rome) were flaming on again, this political mess and war and shit gave rise to warlords and religious extremist and the problem was made even worse with the expansion of the european empires the discovery of america and all that because now it wasn't needed to deal with the middle east to establish trade routes with india and stuff.
