Whoa, are you crazy? Just because the e-mail associated with an account is no longer active doesn't mean the account itself is no longer active. People switch e-mail addresses, lose access to old e-mails and e-mail services shut down. I'm not even sure which e-mail is associated with my account! As your e-mail address is never really used for H&H stuff, people probably won't think about keeping it up to date. I know I've signed up for services with e-mail addresses that no longer exist but that I kept using long after I lost access to the actual e-mail address. And this is especially fucked up for people who have paid stuff on their account (verified, hats, etc).

It is used for password resets.

It makes it hard to get a proper discussion going when the thread grows to five pages in a couple hours because of some stupid back-and-forth that goes nowhere. Make your points properly and then shut up until there's actually new stuff to address...

I see no reason to remain silent in the presence of questions and arguments. Stupidity is a mass mailing under the fictional argument of "increasing the playerbase and profits for developers". Reasonable approach - such news should receive those who wish it: viewtopic.php?f=40&t=62909&start=40#p798411

Then you should change it to one that you actually control.

If I would implement it: redirect all users to a 'make sure your e-mail is current or your account will cease to exist' once on their next forum or game login.

Jorbtar you really do need to get on this and email everyone within a day or two of the reset. I see literally no concrete reasons not to

If the server lags in the beginning you can put out an announcement explaining that you're just a two-man dev team and will look into the new and sudden growth etc..

Denying this chance to get exposure for another year (or two based on this current world) is just bad business sense

This and IMO it's not even debatable.
Woah some of those people will quit later on, so what? The start of a new world is H&H at its peak for a lot of people, there is a shitload of players on that means more potential friend/enemy making, more trading opportunites, more pvp, more hunting groups, more hands to help you build up your villages. I mean the list just goes on.
Devs have the potential to make more money which gives them an actual incentive to keep on working on the game going forward.

All I'm seeing is positives and I guarantee most people who have played and quit will come back for the new world the moment they hear about it. I got messaged by a friend the other day who literally just said "new world on haven is starting up on feb 1st, you in?" and I've been obsessed waiting for it ever since.

If the game is good enough, players will find it.

196k actually. And I guess at least 95% of those are spam bots.

given that I ban a few a week.... a few thousand maybe? maybe I should ban the spam bots in this thread? ;)

I dunno about MIAs, i got pulled back by people that were paying attention to updates, but otherwise i'd never have known. Haven, and its overseas slightly more retarded brother are good games that are nice to come back to every world reset for some people just like they're good to be played consistently for other people. I'd have liked a heads up, sometimes i forget to check in on the game. And I intend to throw some money at the shop come the new world because I've always appreciated the kind of stuff Jorb and Loftar put out, they're the closest most game developers have gotten to this type of game, hopefully it sticks well into the future and grows into even weirder stuff.
