You can shift+right click a mussel and your character will pick all nearby mussels. Even on default client.

Didn't actually know that, thank you! I was more talking about inventory actions, like shucking oysters, splitting wood blocks, slicing cheese, etc. But your example is an example of a step in the right direction!

This fundamental assertion is incorrect. Abusing exploits is confirmed to get your village nuked, and it has happened many times before. It's done nothing to stop major factions from abusing every exploit they come across. Why would the results be different for botting?

Ye, in rare extreme cases it ended up in nuking some of the villages that were using the exploit.
If you exploit a bug you get enormous payoff, but there is a slim chance of getting nuked, many ppl will go for it.
Botting is not the same, payoff of a single bot isn't as big and with more of them chances of being caught are rising. So moderate payoff with high chance of getting nuked? how does that sound?

Ive said this before in Haven discord but KOA was the best kingdom for the first months of this world, the miners didnt bot, the farmers didnt bot, no pearl bot, at most there is bot for sailing around the cost to spot whales.

Bots are massively over exaggerated and its mainly exaggerated on purpose by people like Snail whos entire goal in this game is to make people quit. That "bot" chat spam is probably nothing more than a chat spam macro if Snail truly was botting this much then where is the insane statted acount to prove it? There isnt one. His best account has about 200 strength when I still played. Bots must be pretty unimpactful if thats all there is to show for it.

I'm not saying bots dont exist but I am saying you dont need bots and a lot less people use them than you think. Most people in big factions are using the same custom clients as everyone else like ardenes client, amber client, etc. Whatever bots are available on these clients is what 90% people use. Sure its worse in later world with cheese and stuff but who gives a fuck about later in world.

How do you know this? Burden of evidence is on the accuser, not the accused.
Also, as far as I know stats aren't as important as they used to be. Titan accounts aren't the juggernauts they used to be. Snail may have had 10 or more accounts with that 200 strength stat, which I'd argue is more effective than a single character with 1000+ strength. We don't know unless Snail posts evidence (and even that can be manipulated through photoshop, so J&L are the only trustworthy source of this kind of info).

This is the more pressing issue, that player count nosedives after a few months because nobody is interested in playing late world. Whether or not botting/alt spamming is the primary cause is up for debate, but I don't think it is.

Black Desert Online basically lets you bot + hire bot NPCs to do menial tasks/labors. It's part of the game.

I think I agree with this, probably the biggest thing making people quit is attrition from farming tedium, which is why I suggested mostly automating it in default client. After that there's a limit on how much food you can eat effectively without somehow botting all the salt.

One thing that Snail HAS posted is some UI for oven bot, but again, that's mostly just tedium reduction.

The "botting" messages in Realm chat definitely where smoke and mirrors, even Loftar confirmed that in some other thread about botting.

just make an example of a single commercially successful (i hope you wouldnt argue that devs want the game to be commercially successful on at least some scale) mmo that managed to get rid of bots entirely. cause to the point all your statements are purely theoretical and we dont play theories, we play games.

That's an impossibly high standard and fairly irrelevant anyways. Understand that the goal here is not to punish botters because fuck botters (there's no benefit here), the goal here is reduce their impact where the community no longer feels they're being negatively impacted by them. Getting rid of the majority of bots and forcing the remaining bots to operate within harsh constraints to mimic human behavior (only one bot per IP address, not connecting from proxies/data-centers, only being active for limited hours, diversifying behavior, etc.) in essence is sufficient, because at that point they're behaving just like a normal player and aren't granting someone a massive unfair advantage over the people unable or unwilling to also bot. And examples commercially successful MMOs that have achieved that standard? Basically all of them lol. Like to turn this on you: give an example of a commercially successful MMO whose community is constantly up in arms about bots like they are here?

Didn't they get burnt out? lol, maybe they'd play longer if they used bots for all the tedium.
