Why is everyone so upset about the fate
mechanic? You think other people have
an advantage over you because you can't
get those curios on farm or something?

Just make mirkwood offerings and play
the game. I get a crap ton of exp and I
chain study mirkwoods.

I think what might have been a better approach would have been to have created completely new Fate curiosities to operate under the new system and rebalanced the legacy ones which could be obtained in the same way as before. People expected the legacy curios to be found at X skill investment and the disappointment of that not happening is half this battle.
I like to think no-one is against the new Fate system as an idea but that a lot of the disappointment comes from people investing heavily in exploration/perception and feeling like they've gotten nothing for it, there's very little if any difference between what you can find at 1000 per*exp as there is at 2000 or 3000 from the evidence seen so far.
It removes the reward of linear progression that player have come to expect from things like the resource quality system or raising farm crops. If you've spent your time focusing on exploration to improve your satisfaction from foraging then you'd like to see something fresh and new and of a progressively superior quality to the forages you were finding at the lower level.

If the fate based spectacular curio system was added alongside that forage progression ladder rather than replacing the entirety of the top rungs I think there would be a lot less complaining and issue raised with it as it would be an accepted alternate and "awesome when it happens" event, when you think about collecting dragonflies and getting a Ruby one or last world picking up frogs and finding a shocked one, those to me make far better fate events and no-one really ever complained they couldn't find ruby dragonflies.

Yes maybe perhapes nerf current pearls but have old drop rate, while a pearl called say 'Black Pearl' at the current lp gain drops like 1/20 normal pearls.

Same things could be done for bluebells/edelwiess. Have normal bluebells be just bluebells but then a chiming variant is worth more.

Just my two cents anyhow, so far in my village 3 people got a pearl within the first 20 mussles they boiled so... yeah.

Hoooooly shit, this thread.. so many fat salty tears..

Just going to throw my 2c in here..

Botters will always bot, you cant stop them, look at every other major game company and their hacker/botter problems, the more money they throw at the issue, the more the hackers/botters get creative and push back, its an eternal tug-of-war that nobody but the legit playerbase gets punished for, don't risk hurting the legit players just to stop a problem that cant be completely stopped.

So far Jorbtar have done nothing but improve Haven, they tried a few things differently in this update, and a majority of the players didn't like some of them, so they fixed it.. and are continuing to fix them. The last few updates have been nothing but fixes to some issues, yet you still whine and complain.

Ill be the first to admit, ive complained about a few things in this update, but straight up saying "Fuck you, this update is trash" is fucking ridiculous, get over yourself and play the game or leave, nobody is forcing you to stay here, and its only $15 to play Legacy if you hate the update so much. If your going to say something sucks and should be changed, provide an example of how it should be changed, otherwise you'll end up looking like an asshole and most likely ignored.

This fate system is a very effective at making bots less effective than human players (forcing varied play in order to generate rares seems to be what jorb's hinting at). I'm actually quite excited about it, although I'd prefer more clarity as to how it works but I get that would make it easier for botters to circumvent.

Always some sort of secrecy that is required to keep the mechanic working as intended, im ok with that.

I think you may be mistaken in that.

So if I try and use my forager to single-handedly get 10 pearls from harvesting, and boiling mussels to make a pearl necklace, I won't be successful?

You didn't get the point of my anecdotal story at all, it wasn't about a pearl necklace. It was about time, effort, and risk put in being rewarded.

I can make you example too:

i go everyday to chop down trees, but i got very few curios from it !
why the formula "time -> effort, award" not working here ?

easy, because maybe the work you do, didn't meant to make reward you thinking about, in this game

You might be, but likely not from simply bruteforcing the matter, much like you will not be getting many experiences if you only spam for one of them.
