anything but my character.

and i agree with you on how salem's waste claim was stupid.

You must be a hermit or something. You are very much in the minority though. A set up base will recover a char a lot more easily than a developed character will rebuild a base.

At least back then game made you do something and not log-in, log-out. You newfags are part to blame here. -snip-. If you think legacy is done, why not release the source code by the way?

Reveal your oldfag forums name or stop bitching bout newfags ... You're asking for the source code of shitty curio system ?!? I guess your name is Shizophreniac ...

Considering the normal rate the world declines at, this isn't so bad considering the game is now p2p. I think the real problems will arise in 3 or so months when the world starts to get stale and subscription costs are just another reason to stop playing. Havens end game has always been somewhat lacking considering the glacial speed at which qualities increase down the road.

My thinking has always been that either the game is good enough to spread by word of mouth, or it isn't good enough.

The thing is, the game is good enough. Its that most the people that play the game dont exactly spread it around on multiple forums that they may be apart of.

I can't speak of everyone, but I mention it as much as I can, and it does have a listing on several MMO websites. Thing is, for every player that falls in love with the game, there seem to be 10 more that would rather hate on it than just ignore the fans.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

I'd say that the pacing of the game combined with the fact that everyone starts out confused and fumbling with the default client results in a lot of people giving up early in the game

A lot of the content and fun comes in mid-game and most people don't make it that far

Now that it's confirmed, someone needs to make a thread discussing how player-made cities could work.

For this game to get popular, I think you would need more people streaming the game or posting videos of it online.

Problem is this game seems to run pretty slow on a lot of peoples computers, so the videos that I have seen are really low quality and don't show off the game very well. most people run custom clients that turn off all the shadows, turn on simple crops, etc etc.

The bigger problem is that this game is entirely uninteresting to watch. Even the archery system is either 1 hit kill or worthless. When you stream a game on twitch it needs to be something people can watch and understand what is going on. The problem with this game is that the systems have such a huge learning curve to grasp that your average person has no idea what is going on.

Example:
I spent 20 minutes trying to figure out you had to step into the fire on my first attempt playing. "worthless frickin wizard tells you nothing after naming you"

It took me 3 character until I figured out which stats I should be raising to progress in this game (you absolutely need survival and exploration as beginning base stats).

Combat in this game is completely confusing. It is hard enough to figure out what those damn numbers near the player's combat moves, but there is no indication on how to trigger your attacks as at all. (I eventually found a post where somebody explained the pressing number keys, which override the hotkey bar in combat.) I seriously tried 50 times to click the squares for the attack and to drag the attacks into my hotbar keys from my combat school page.

The FEP(food event points) system is completely confusing at first. I could not figure out if the percentages being displayed were a bonus somehow or negatively impacting me since the status was negatively phrased. (eventually I figured out the status name is pointless and the percent is what's important- 'if you haven't figured it out, stay hungry to maximize points earned during food consumption')

The curios were probably the only thing in this game I understood of first attempt. You don't need to afk, the points come into your character wither you are logged in or not. I still have no idea what good exp is other than feeding curios.

Quality in this game is not straight forward at all. please explain what each of these three status's represent as I am pretty sure only the developers really know.

Even something simple as walking in this game makes no sense. Your character doesn't have the most basic of ai to walk around a tree or bush. (this likely was the hardest for me, even now I struggle to just walk around)

Note: I have figured out most of this stuff now and have no complaints about how it functions, just that the learning curve was intense and likely too much for most people without some sort of in game help. With the exception of the 'zero player path finding'... you need to fix that crap before you tell anyone this game exists with advertising.
