Seriously those kids suck, I mean, hafen is a game about challenges.
You know the world today they invent alternatives which make people lazier.
A game that is pretty easy doesnt make you stronger.
That's why this game aint pop.

Any MMO I've played had a top of 2-5% of players who can be considered 'hardcore'.
So the players worthy of Haven do exist, you only need to reach them and make them believe that this is what they want.

Truth is this one. There is no pleasure except through pain.

Sorry man, I'll have to disagree. I could be wrong, but I counted a total of 1 crafting/survival game being released last 30 days.

MagicManICT wrote:Who cares if it's popular?

I do. Mainly because the devs stated this is their main job, so it needs to generate profit or else they'll give up on this game eventually, as life costs only go up and the player count only goes down. But also because if I wanted single-player I'd go somewhere else.

Comparing with this description of Tibia:
https://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comment ... he/d5z5k1a

How come Tibia has so many players, when its also very punishing when you die? Performance is a big difference. PvP you want to avoid at all costs, specially if you lack performance. I guess the pvp needs to be less scary, with higher chances of escaping alive. If you know the chances of losing your work is high, most people will avoid pvp and settle to tasks until it becomes boring.

Granger I understand it is hobby to you for telling people how to live his own live with no information of the man, but this is just especially nonsense postings here. How can the man who does not know of pain understand this pleasure? There must be some disparity of good for good to exist at all.

@Granger, Ysh: Let's not dive down this rabbit hole?

@ven: it doesn't have to be popular for the company to make a living off of it. Just a few hundred subscribers a month can be enough to live on at $10 US a month. It's not a great living, but if you're willing to make other sacrifices to make art, then so be it.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

I know you guys love to preach that the small community is enjoyable but other than the added lag, more players would be nothing but healthy for the game, especially with the added parts of the map. People saying this game is only for a certain "hardcore minority" are delusional.

The "hardcore" leaves 2 months in.
The one who stays are happy to watch paint dry and grass grow, or are new.
The game is very good, but it gets old after 2-3 months. Expanding the map does not help.

When people ask for resets, what are they really asking for? Change, or that things be shaken up. Because the game doesn't enforce changes of playstyle, it just gives us a blank sheet of paper. Any kind of shaking up must be caused by players at the moment.

There's no old age and natural deaths, so there's no character cycling and renewal.
The game is an eden locked in an eternal summer. Food is plentiful, crops never fail, the heath will always have animals, and not even mammoths are rare.
There are no global events, no formula changes.
Essentially, there's no challenge and progress is too fast.

If any kind of regular, unpredictable changes of playstyle were implemented, I'm sure the game would take longer to get old.
