God gave you an intellect, a conscience, and the ability to choose what you want to do. Figure out whether you should trim your hair or not with that.
Fashion is a zeitgeist. It may be that tattoos become fashionable in twenty years' time, and then peter out again in twenty years after that. Who knows what the human mind will wrap itself around?
Don't get me wrong. There's some great looking tattoos, but I just don't think it makes anyone look better. I liken it more to the phrase "wearing your heart on your sleeve"--the tattoo gives away some part of the self to the casual observer. I'm too private of a man to expose my inner self in such a way. (Let's not mention it's a dead giveaway identifier if a person was to ever actually commit a crime.)
Well, I can't and won't ask you to fly your flags if you don't wish to. Certainly not in that way; I have no desire to waste my money or undergo unnecessary pain. I can easily fly my flag in other ways.
That said, I do slightly admire the man who tattoos himself with something important to him - his God, his wife, his children, the meaning of his life.
