After everyone has built their village and done "everything" the game becomes stale.
A part of the problem is that few wants to risk their chars because of the permadeath. Less action.
Everyone should be able to kill everyone at any time without any rules from day one. No visitor bullshit or nidbanes.
Make the difference between the players their equpment, not their stats. Drop stats and FEPS alltogether.
Make high end equipment complex and hard to make. The loss of equipment and base would be a bigger problem than losing the character.

I've been saying "remove stats" for a while now but nobody took it seriously. Everyone whines about hermits not being able to compete with hardcore 24/7 grinders and devs keep putting bigger roots on combat stats, which is the right direction but they're looking at it the wrong way.

If stats were removed, a hermit who can't grind 24/7 and make an insanely good character to even scratch the hardcore players, could for example grind low-level stuff like 3000 blueberries, and with those blueberries buy a set of good gear to be able to participate in combat, etc.

I agree with everything dageir said, although I do have to say scents and outlaw (no log off after crimes) still need to be a thing.

Although interesting and a neat idea, the subscriptions and account verifying would become that less necessary and valuable. It'd hurt our beloved Devs pockets.

Are you aware that they are rich and made this game purely to be able play as gods?

make ground level 6 a dreamworld with raid bosses... huge rats and massive hedgehogs you'd have to fight in group, tankers and healers.... if you fail and die, since it was a dream, you'd wake up at home... good old Lineage had lots of raid bosses, but there was a bishop class which could heal and revive party member...

Our fundamental goal with Haven & Hearth is to create a game in which player choices have permanent and/or lasting effects and, thus, providing said players with a meaningful and fun gaming experience.

Permanent world and meaningful progression is all I want in this game tbh.
