Bots aren't the root of the problem.
For m they are. I can put up with everything this game has in store for me, even permadeath due to bug/glitch. But the thoughts of other players having their chores delivered by bots is unsettling.

Foraging demands exploration and I love it a lot. I'm to lazy to be a decent farmer/crafetr/miner/etc. So I chose the path of hunting/foraging. You get to surf the map further each day, you get to scout for precious quality nodes, you meet new people, you get the adrenaline rush that each of those can kill you on the spot. Until I will reach every corner of the map, the exploration part will always have something new, instead of doing the same thing over and over again like a farmer for example does. I think the repetitive task of everyday chores encourage botting more than exploration. If you ever cut off the foraging part out of the exploration, I will still do it for the sake of discovery.
I will end with an idea - how about instead of giving players physical curios to raise their LP, you give them the option to improve their character by doing the thing that he likes the most. Like the Skyrim improvements for example. You get to raise your farming skill by ... farming. Like some experience farming bar that if it reaches the top you get a level up and you get to chose form a skill tree the further specialization (may it be planting trees, crops, growing silkworms or bees). The same for everything else in the game. And let foraging/scouting be useful just for discovering stuff/map/nodes, etc.
