doubt it, many games have this and will just not load certain thing like animal and player until you get close, but who knows maybe it's a magic function..

Yes, but only frozen in time until I see them again like chef mentioned. Ideally I should trim certain objects since they are not that useful at range.

It's too bad since I still get 60 fps when preserving just the grids, but without objects it's rather ugly. Even flavor objects don't make it look any better.

The problem is with too many objects (many minimaps worth) as it fills up memory fairly fast which leads to crushing fps as you near the limit; aside from that there is a slow descend i guess in fps. Also shadows tank it.
