If it weren't for the possibility of death, this game would be kinda boring. On the bright side you can get a mandrake patch going now!! ;)

I think that sums up the feelings about last world for many of the players. I think others enjoyed that aspect of last world a bit too much, but that's my opinion.

As time passes by, more people quit not because they get bored, but because you hermit, or you group up with some friends, and either your hard work gets bashed, stolen or you get killed.
And while PvP should be the end-game, there should be an opt-in for it since the PvP in this game is horrid, its understandable that most people enjoy more to mine and craft and discover the game in this mode.

If one of the big factions would take one day to go around the continent and kill everyone in the first 2 weeks of a new world, the server population would reach 200 active hf ( from which i assume more than half are bots )

There is also the prospect of seasons, so if people decide to join the game 4 weeks from now, in the winter time, they would actually have nothing to do, cant forage, cant eat, the start would be incredible slow compared to the ones that started at the beginning of the new world.

The devs made the game like PUBg, permadeath and if you land later, its a waste of time.

It repeat every world. Maybe 10% of player base is really affected by that. Other than that, factions do not have power to kill every player and every player killed at this stage not really will quit as the lost is not even big yet.

Havin an "opt" to participate or not, would mean to give the strongest weapon to griefers and trolls which would make the suffering way beyond and worse than a faction coming up and smacking You.

It's not even realistic for a faction to waste entire day to go and slaughter people. First, because they would lose horrible amount of time, two, it wouldn't bring them anything. Most of people are casualities when they are going somewhere or going back and such hermits just found themselfs in wrong place in wrong time.

Not actively getting in the way of big factions greatly helps your survival chances as a hermit.

Actually that image was from someone killing a friend , carrying his body and than he got XP while dead :-)
