An interesting idea I had was that when foraging, instead of the fate system, we had a semi soulbound system, or a straight soulbound system.

Semi system could be something like the fate forageable you find is better when you yourself use is, but isn't as good when you give it to someone else.

Or

Fate things could be strictly soulbound.

This would help reduce the bots because most aren't going to bot their main in a swamp.

doesn't do much for your vacuum problem, although I don't think it is a problem myself. What's wrong with rewarding a person for exploring and investing in exploration and perception. At least they are actually wandering around and experiencing the game world you created instead of staying behind their walls the whole game.

The problem with letting drops be both the optimal choice AND yield more units per more effort is that people will then try to maximize effort using a) free accounts b) lots of bots. Which on the one hand imbalances the game in favour of the abusers, and encourages people to nolife foraging until it turns from a fun activity to a town of 10 shouting at 2 foragers to "fucking get more curios we can't fill our 200 int anymore"

Raffeh:
I highly doubt bots could fight bears and boars even with high ua, seeing as the combat insists on the randomised attack squares and boars special attacks like 'tusk thromp'

Uh huh. Combat bots are not hard. People have pvp bots already, nevermind hunting bots.
Any animal, with the possible exception of bear, would be ridiculously easy to bot melee to death. Bots in combat are just like people who always make the optimal decision.

I repeat, while I acknowledge the difficulty involved in actually identifying them, people who use bots need the Core treatment.

If I wanted to fight NPC mobs using scripts, I'd play a game that had them built in and intended.
jorb: I don't want *your* money. You are rude and boring. Go away.
Sevenless: We already know real life has some pretty shitty game mechanics, it's why we're here instead.
Avu: The end is near it has finally come to pass: I agree with Lunarius...
Shubla: There are also other reasons to play this game than to maximize your stat gain.

Ahh yes, the "let's have our developers waste their time trying and failing to fight botting instead of developing the game" argument. Jorb and Loftar should be able to get rid of bots because AAA titles like World of Warcraft and Runescape totally have!

It's true even AAA titles have this issue. I remember one of my first times doing ICC i had a entire team of bots. it's not like anybody has managed to come up with a cure for this epidemic so jorb and loftar should probably stop focusing on it.

You mean like changing systems around to make botting less efficient like the curio system etc.?
loftar: The inner chaos of the Jorbian mind is hard to conceal. :)
jorb: It's called creative license. You know, that thing you seem to want to apply to logic, grammar and coherence? :)

Jorb has stated that his goal never was to make botting less efficient, but to remove systems that encourage repitive simple actions. Wether that was a success in the curio department is another thing though.

Feels good man.

But honestly, the system is just weird. Since the launch we have found one edel, two bluebells and quite a lot of boletes.
