I realized that this strawpoll accepts multiple submissions from single user, so it can't be representative.

The ideas and thoughts in this thread, however, are worthy IMO.

Yep. You don't even need to go that far out of your way to manipulate the results.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

It doesn't for me? You can select multiple categories but trying to vote twice will error you out.

I understand the fragmented part, but why not implement systems to encourage more cooperative play rather than split the community into seperate servers? For example, a permission to carry weapons on a claim. That way you can allow strangers to enter your claim, but only if they're unarmed. Or a claim above village, so people can create their own feudal kingdoms with multiple villages under their influence. Or better methods of travel so it doesn't take 2+ hours just to get to the next village. Or automated gatehouses which close when a crime is committed so villages who want to keep their gates open don't have to worry so much about raiders rushing the gate.

Imagine if instead of villages being locked off behind layers of walls only to interact with the outside world trading on a naked alt, we instead had villages open to the public for hermits to get some rest or people from other towns to trade.

I came close to this in World 4 when I wanted to grow my village, but didn't necessarily want to invite randoms into the inner workings where all the highest quality stuff was held. So, I instead invited people to create their own villages along the lake. I would give them tasks (usually making bricks for a wall that went around the entire lake) in exchange for hammy-down resources and protection. It basically operated like a feudal system. The claims were difficult to manage, though, because I had no authority over their village claim. I thought about building banners/statues all around the lake, but that was unrealistic and would force them to switch to a personal claim which meant their villagers couldn't have personal claims within the village. It made me wish there was a kingdom claim. Then the world abruptly ended and I was back to a village that hardly interacted with the outside world.

Uh...

Have you played in recent worlds? Almost all of the stuff this would accomplish already exists. Realm claims and kingdoms already exist, visitor gates exist so you can leave your gates open 24/7 without worry of people rushing in your gates and killing you (and thus having weapons doesn't matter). Charterstones and milestones are already great ways to connect villages together.

Hope you'll enjoy a game that's fun for about eight weeks provided you have a decent group to play it with. You'd get bored more than here but you somehow believe your private server would do better xD

I voted two times. But if you try to vote immediately after - it errors out indeed.

I think you're very wrong.

Private servers would expand the feeling of exploration, spending and having fun finding the better spots for clay, water, animals etc
Everything you can make matters, no trading the botting guy who makes you obsolete.
Combat would be harder, you would need a good group of friends to get strong enough to do dungeons
You wouldn't feel pressured or need to rush to "keep" up.
Nobody to randomly come and murder you
Everyone can do their own thing in a much more relaxed way.

Besides the people who want, private server (including myself) tend not to play the world for longer than 3-4 months due to the issues the game has. why shouldn't the offer to host private worlds and profit off of it?

I would rather play with just people i like and play by rules we agree i.e don't bot everything, share exploits with the devs as we have no NEED to compete.
RMT wouldn't affect it, it be a much nicer way to play as i see no reason for pvp in the current game other than some arbitrary need to kill people(don't get me wrong I understand, ran pvp groups in other games for years). This game is just not great for PvP.

i've done most of what this game offers, i just prefer the more relaxing aspects and the ability to mod out some of the changes i dislike and add in things i would like.

So basically you guys want a PvE oriented game and that's acceptable. But the thing is - PvE content in HnH is quite limited compared to other sandbox games. The game isn't running smooth on most devices. I don't see really that many reasons besides people abusing admin powers to speedrun through the game's content.

I have always been curious to see what would happen if the dev's split the server to 1 pvp, 1 non-pvp, and see which would A: have a larger starting population, and B: maintain a larger population over a 4 month period.
