Devs said it is not an expoit and everything is working as intended basically giving him a permission to go and drown as much spurcecaps as he pleases and he did exactly that. Afterall H&H allways was about ruining the day for helpless spurcecap for shits and giggles and allways will be. Ofc he isn't some knight in shining armor but ain't criminal either he just played the game the way it intended to be played by devs and had some fun. This whole story is one big fuckup by Jorbtar if anything.

You forgot the part where he told the devs he will continue killing newbs until they did what he wanted.

If you want to say shubla was just having some fun, isn't that exactly what snail is doing? If she was abusing bugs/exploiting etc, the devs would have done something, as it is, asking for hats/tokens for realm chat privileges breaks no rules. It's hypocritical of shubla to be trying to force the punishment of snail who is only doing what you claim shubla did, which is have fun.

Also, how do you feel about shubla stealing someone else's work, not crediting them and then adding a donate button to it?
Or literally copying someone else's discord server, same channels etc and trying to encourage people to leave it to come to his copied server?
He's a shitty person with no right to be calling for someone else to be punished for less crap than he has done.

Difference between Shubla and Snail is the fact that Shubla reported exploit beforehand, and snail keep them secret until they found out by 3rd party. I think concealing such info from devs is violating the rules while proclaiming that you going to kill spurcecaps is not. About other Shula's shenanigans- i personally dont care. We dont frame people for crimes just because they are shitty person in general.

well, that's a pretty classic tactic for this group - once their beloved "queen" is showed in unpleasant way - they just start shittalk about person who reveals said facts... sadly for them, facts won't change from a person's reputation, and if one killer provides the information about another killer, you can't defend second with "well the info was provided by a bad person, so our killer is innocent".
And the fact they just continue to talk about shubla instead of snail, just confirms they don't disagree with the fact that psychopath is ruining other players' experience.

The difference between shubla and Snail is that shubla brazenly blackmailed the devs and created a bot, on his nefarious custom client filled with stolen content, that can instantly kill any player in the game, used it, posted the video on the forums in an effort to insult the devs and spread the exploit, and ultimately had the goal of ruining the game for everybody just to quench his selfish desires, cause drama and upset as many people as possible.

Snail, on the other hand, made a realm and muted some people.

That's the difference.

Shubla made free, open source client (it does have the dreaded donate button though.)

literally every village filled with serious, veteran and pvp players has been using bots to automate labourous tasks since legacy

the difference is using bots to make porridge vs. using bots to run exploitative game-breaking insta-kill contraptions just to purposefully blackmail the devs and charging people to use it with RMT "donations"

nice try tho

devs could go a step further and "democratize" automation

add village NPCs and a macro system unlockable by a skill

so any hearthling could adventure in creative automation, not just the programming fellas

this could add another layer for player creativity and potentially "level out" the field

You mean shublas client that was mostly other peoples work that he begs for donations from? That one? Same as begging for donations for all of algs hard work on the map, that shubla also stole.

Afaik bots are allowed. Can you honestly say you've never used a bot?

Shubla uses bots, is that allowed because it's shubla? Shubla killed people using a bot AND an 'exploit' then blackmailed the devs with it, can you really not see how that is worse than having a porridge making bot?

Botting is a bad thing, but unfortunately, it is normal. If you want to blame SnuggleSnai, so you can, there is a few things that you can blame for. If you want to blame shubla, there is also a reason. But this is wrong to blame people who play this game for their playstyle. If they use bugs, abuses, features, bots and playing this game, they are right. If they are not telling people about how to do this, they are right too. If you want to judge them at the moral side of this, you can do this in this thread, but only thing you can achieve is hate from the people you try to blame. If you want them to change, so just be better yourself and that's it. If you want to say that killing inoccent hearthlings unfair, so you are morally right. But you should remember, that Hearthlands are not a fair place for little young hearthlings to wander alone - here is a lot of people who are seeking for skulls and trophies. If you want to survive - hide or unite, and run or rebel. This is the only thing that should be understood. As for me, none of them is guilty from the side of the game, but morally they both are wrong. They have right to be bad if they want.

The issue with botting is that it just furthers the obnoxious power divide between basement dwellers with too much time on their hands and functional adults who don't want want to dedicate what precious time they have on this Earth to exclusively playing HnH. Also by the virtue that botting literally replaces the roles of other players, it seems to as jorb put it (on an entirely different subject): "somewhat against the idea of an MMORPG". Like, I don't mind automating mundane tasks while you watch Netflix or whatever, but at the point where you find yourself needing to multibox, that's too far. If you want to have a force multiplier of other bodies helping you, like, learn how to make friends you anti-social weirdo.

Or don't. I'm not really here to tell other people they should play the game my way. I'll just keep on swinging by every few months praying for jobtar to sell me a private server.

EDIT: It's not like large scaling botting is some insurmountable challenge that has never been dealt with. But it's obvious that the majority of the community who remains are basically supportive to at worst indifferent about the idea of botting, so there isn't much point to changing it. After all, if they get rid of the botters how else would be people be easily able to identify their favorite pariahs.

Could we all stop the bullshit? How much of shubla's code was actually stolen? Can you steal code that is open source? (Fun fact, even if the modder is to argue against it, their code is open source according to the license they consented to when downloading the code to modify.) There's been at least a few court rulings on this stuff in both the US and EU countries. I'm tired of the bullshit, and if you think you have a legal leg to stand on, get a lawyer. Otherwise, cut it out.

How many of you CHOOSE to run only one client? Great. Not against the rules. Don't belly ache about the people that power game. Just because they min max all their characters and run multiple clients to maximize efficiency doesn't make them basement trolls, just industrious people that have (maybe a bit too much?) zeal for their hobbies.

How many of you CHOOSE not to run bots and scripts? Great, no rules violations there for those that do use them. Unless someone has a foolproof method for combating them that is both cheap and efficient, I don't see the rules on this changing. (Think you have such a method? Great. Code it up and market it. I'm sure the software development world will beat a path to your door. You might not make Facebook billions, but I see a lot of checks with many zeros after the one in your future. Maybe you'll contribute such tech to your favorite indie game for free.)

Exploiters? Catch them where you can, report what you see to jorb or loftar with as best an explanation of what you're seeing. Screenshots and video are helpful. Some are minor and intentional. (Anyone remember the tanning tub exploit?) These will get fixed in time, no skin off anyone's back if they're used. Some are so nefarious it gets accounts wiped and villages, even realms, nuked and/or salted.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.
