AFAIK there's already an initial quest for the character creation room.

There's a lore event that tells you how to become a boy/girl based on the shallows you decide to walk through, but I don't think there's anything explaining how to customize your hair colour, how to spawn in using a charter/beacon secret, or how to inherit

Although, I think it took me a few moments the first time to figure it out. It isn't super intuitive.

It is better than it was 8 years ago, at least. Maybe it was obvious to me since I learned the "click on everything" theory of game playing from the likes of King's Quest, Ultima, Might & Magic, Bard's Tale, and other such RPGs and "point & click" adventures.
