Hermitting

Postby Darruin » Mon Aug 31, 2015 7:28 am

I'm curious to know how my fellow introverted hearthlings feel about the new game, especially in regards to not being able to have alts. Do you like it? In world 7 I used disposable alts to forage, hunt and mine. But now my single account has to do everything. I think it's kind of cool as it adds a lot of risk to any given player and I am indeed scared. However the stories of raiding and death will probably be a lot more enjoyable to hear about :P

Personally I'd like to see some kind of system where you could spawn a single alt with you, once every few months perhaps? This way over time a hermit would slowly gain more safety in his base. But I guess the nefarious players of Hafen would use this ability for their botting plans so I see the issue...

Gonna be tough.

We're gonna get party arrows back, so you can walk your alts to your home.

Yeah but to run that alt at the same time as my main it'll cost me money to purchase another account. Otherwise I'll have to log off and use one account at any given time which is tedious. Then there's the problem of having walked for five hours out of spawn and having no idea where I am.

I have always used my single character to do everything and it's been simple. I love the game, plan to sub soon and I'm working on figuring everything out and being a helpful hermit.

Advise checking this thread as I expect it to be a collective of us hermits sharing information rather than a group who discovers things and keeps it to themselves: Knowledge to the world!

I've always played one character and mostly only lived alone and I've managed fine prior to 2.0. But with 2.0 I believe things will only get better, with the removal of personal beliefs. Now one character can theoretically do everything by himself. Obviously having multiple characters will be beneficial, because of limited LP gain with curiosities.

are you actually only allowed one character per account?
cause if so im plannin to have a free account (or verified) alt for expensive abilities, since i wouldnt have to use it very often i probably wouldnt use up the hours. also, a key alt obv.

You can have as many characters as you want.

From what I've gathered so far everyone is an asshole, so don't even bother building anything until you've gathered enough LP to get a claim going. The random lore is nice to read but as far as that rather pointless. I could see it as the precursor to achievements so you have goals to work towards in-game if you're new and have no idea what you're doing.

It is indeed intended to be a non-issue in the early stages of the game, and even while you are actively playing the character.

If you just sit offline hoping to eat curios without playing however, especially if you actually have enough int to eat a boxfull of curios every day, the thing could certainly come under a different light.
