Trapped in house

Postby Tetsamaru » Fri Sep 04, 2015 8:32 am

I just logged in (I finally got Yemonry) and someone put their hearthfire right on the entrance of my house. I can't leave unless I travel to my hearthfire which is right outside my house.

And I can't destroy his hearth fire since I'm too weak.

Is the only thing to do is to grab what valubles I have in my Leanto and just move somewhere else with less Assholes lying about? Or is there a way to salvage this? I was hoping to kinda farm a bit more LP before making a move anyway since the area i'm in seems to populated. But it looks like my hand might be forced.

I also didn't realize you could build a heathfire inside a house. Was that in Legacy? Because i'm basing most of my knowledge from that. I know this is a whole new world and a whole update with changed mechanics but I guess I didn't think the game would change so many rules. Guess next time I make a house I'll put my Hearthfire right inside my door entrance.

Hearth fires should perhaps have the same soak tickup as other soak objects, though that might also be problematic. I have noticed them being used a bit too much for blocking purposes for my liking, however.

Will investigate. Thanks. Moving is probably a good idea.

Then you've been blind for the past few years. Its always been this way, hearthfires being used to block the shit out of cave entrances & houses.

Do hearthfires strictly need collision? I mean they are made of magic and fairydust anyway right?

This is a solid point. The only time it ever really comes into play is to block stuff.

The reason being to provide the player a guaranteed point of unblocked login.

That's fair. The issue at hand seems like a difficult one to find an elegant solution for.

Player transitions in and out of worlds are, indeed, always ugly.

I can see that. Although what if my Hearthfire was also destroyed in this situation? I just teleported now to be on the safe side and am about to embark on a journey for a new land to claim but what if?

I would be stuck in my house with a unknown hearthfire(I know it's not my friends) inside my house in front of the entrance and If I tried to teleport, it would tell me that my hearthfire was destroyed right?

In that scenario I really would be screwed unless I had a 2nd player with alot of strength to destroy the hearthfire or if I already had the strength to destroy hearthfires.

Then again, I know the world of HnH is a harsh one and in that scenario I probably would remake a new character then.
