Post your buildings and what kind of materials you used. I'll start.

Log cabin with alder boughs, alder blocks and alder planks.

so how is the appearance decided? the first piece of material used or does it go by the majority of type of material used?

unconfirmed but I've heard its a mix of materials used, like the color hue's to a median of the materials color.
This game really needs a great sword...

I think it mixes yeah. So if you use half gneiss half feldspar it'll be blueish-orange.

Edit: Doesn't mix.

Just saw in another thread where jorb talked about it. There's a "crossover" point where a decent ratio gives you a secondary colour for certain parts of the building. Doesn't seem to mix.

I'm building my next cabin with cherry wood. Should have interesting results. I can't remember what I used for thatching last time, may try to go with tar sticks.

There is no color mixing. Primary color is the highest used material, secondary color is the second most used, third is third most, fourth is fourth. A single material can be multiple colors. Materials also determine the texture of the construction.

This is what happens when you use one type of wood to make a house.

This is what happens when you carefully pick and choose what materials you want to use.

And this is what the best wood in the game looks like.

We really need to catalog what wood is good.
