Exploration QQ

Postby banok » Sun Sep 06, 2015 4:23 pm

I've done like 6+ hours of exploration today, mapping around my area, covered alot of ground with exp16*23perc. Including whole mountain range, various biomes and...

nothing rare or interesting was found. just lots of the same stuff I already have in cupboards and was finding at lower levels.

I feel that in old haven I would have found all sorts of goodies, glimmermoss, toadstools, devils and probably a bluebell or flotsam by now.

If someone is supposed to have 1-2 hours of gameplay in a day, and they go foraging for all of that and only find WWW's, blueberries etc. they're not going to get hook'd on the game.

Is anyone else having similar experience or am I being way premature/unlucky?

16*23=368

Compare that to the old foraging table: http://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Foraging

You've barely discovered Tangled Bramble, it's not so high

Exploration was clearly nerfed from being an overwhelming source of amazing LP.

It's still extremely beneficial for finding curios.

My issue isn't with any lack of curosities to find but rather a lack of anything interesting at all, at least so far. I know the Ring of Brodgar is out there, perhaps there are some statues yet to be found as well.

What I was really hoping for was something like... I don't know, unique biomes, static (and perhaps claimable?) structures that can be explored. Cool stuff like that.

Helpful replies actually. I think my memory of what good exp*perc is way off, reason being normally my exp skill would be way higher due to x4 LP gains in old haven. So I think my point is still somewhat valid, game is alot slower in this aspect.

guess I need to do more offline progression and quit bitching, seems like a neg change - pherhaps just needs more foragables to fill in gaps to give that feeling of constant discovery.

I don't know about that. I've got 32 perception and 25 exploration and I haven't found a single interesting curiosity. Two huge swamps near my home that I visit every day, numerous times, and I've found 0 bluebells. Been out on the water numerous times per day too, 0 Peculiar Flotsam.
All I'm getting is shit, and raising Exploration is already becoming a huge LP sink, even at 25. It will cost me 15k LP to get 5 more points in it, now in old H&H that would be fine, because I'd have Flotsam being researched all of the time, dragonflies, bluebells and a few other good curiosities, combined with the "Change" belief which was giving me 3 times the LP gain.

From raising my exploration above 10, the only new thing I've found is Rustroot. This shit sucks, where are my good, forageable curiosities?

And before somebody says "Well you're still far off from finding such and such from old H&H with your current exp*per", all I have to say to that is this. If the personal belief system is gone, which granted us 3x the LP, then why aren't the required numbers for finding curiosities in this game being lowered to compensate for that? Right now it's a tediously slow grind.

So to conclude, despite me playing for at the very least, 10+ hours a day, I've still only found mediocre curiosities that will be taking two days of study to give me the required LP to bump my Exploration from 25 to 30, which I'm imagining STILL won't be of any help.

I can all but promise you that the legacy table is only good as a rough guide, as I've gotten Edels with only 180 p*e.

Usually you didn't start really seeing most of the neat/good stuff until 50*50 or so. And we don't really know all the values.

I feel ya though, my stats are low but I feel as if I should have found more by now. My best find is a single chiming bluebell, nothing close since.
