Criminal actions are off by default. You chose this life, do your time.

Sounds like this whole "trespassing causes damage" thing could be abused. Wouldn't it be possible to block off strategic locations like rivers or useful paths? What if a group of people or one person with alts surrounded someone else's house with personal claims?

you can't claim within 5 tiles of another claim, so you couldn't block someone in, it'd be annoying but just that.

I'm still of the opinion that the 2nd claim you lay should have some cost attached to it. It is a little too cheap to create blocking claims to piss off your neighbours.

What if the person being locked in is a noob who doesn't have a claim, though? Or what if they live in a cave and someone blocks off the only exit?

That's more an issue to do with hearthing mechanics, and it's come up with people palisading off HFs as well.

Palisading takes time and valuable resources, though. Building a claim just requires yeomanry and a few bones.

If its thats easy then they should have a claim themselves, if they don't have a claim they deserve everything they get.
