Terrible, terrible, terrible lag

Postby PassingGrades » Wed Sep 16, 2015 6:49 pm

Haven and Hearth was a game i used to play like, a lot years ago because of ProJared's video. Thing is, I completely forgot about it in a year or so.
Now i think to myself "Gee, I'm running out of games to play, what should I do? Right! That MMO i used to play a lot, HnH!". So I check out what's new and notice a MASSIVE graphical update from before, it looked really good from the screenshots, but it wasn't something that required a NASA Supercomputer or something like that.
But after I enter the game, I notice that the game runs at a snail's pace, it's almost unplayable. I don't keep count of FPS but i'd say it's about 5-6 frames per second.
Why? Why can't I run Haven and Hearth? I have no problems with other games with better graphics, like Team Fortress 2, FEAR, Modern Warfare 1-3, etc. I know, I know HnH and all these games run on completely different engines that are designed for completely different things, but I don't see a game like Haven and Hearth using so much processing power.

TL;DR: Want to play HnH, can't play HnH cuz of FPS lag, PassingGrades is sadface

My desktop computer runs haven just fine, but fans spins like i am playing some high end GFX game like crysis3, the Witcher 3, or any modern game with super nice graphics on very high/ultra settings.
My Dell Venue 11 Tablet (i5 4300Y, Intel HD 4200) doesn't run haven at all, GFX is slow as crap, game is unplayable. On a side note, i can run these modern games with low settings on this tablet just fine.

Some optimization could be done.

I suggest OP to rename this post to Terrible Terrible poor performance. Lag is only related to network latency.

I have a friend who gets a stuttering FPS of 3 on haven and he's quit as a result. His computer is able to play warframe, so it's definitely not a computer side performance issue. I've been trying to get him to post specs but because he never got into the game he doesn't really care enough to bother.

It's not even an optimization thing, there's gotta be a driver or hardware conflict in here.
Lucky: haven is so quirky
Lucky: can be so ugly, can be so heartwarming

Please optimize your GPU driver so that is supports OpenGL in a sane way.
The ones bundled by MS with Windows just suck, at least get the latest from the GPU manufacturer.

Game seems to show absurd amount of hate towards AMD GPU's, and instead uses CPU to render most aspects? Tested with a group on similar performance laptops and PC, doesn't matter if linux or windows, computers using AMD GPU suffered heavy hits in CPU while Nvidia had no issues at all.

What driver did you use for the AMD?
