Where does the game going?

1. Are you planning to promote your game somehow? Population is shrinking every day we need new players. p2p system made sure that old f2p players from previous wolrds won't play.
2. What are you going to do with game itself? Are you going to just add the content or develop more complex mechanics?
3. Only way to battle bots is to embed bot-like capabilities into the game, like previously mentioned "study table" and sorts. Something to make chores easier and raize quality of life.
4. World cycles aka rounds. This will make more people who think that they late for the party, people who lost their chars and everyone else who quit the game to return to the leveled playing field thus stabilise server population.
5. "Legacy" haven. Open sources ffs.

I already gave the idea of steam greenlight, and I think haven CAN be fit there, even with it's hardcore nature (rust made it, and rust community is mostly based on 10-15 years kids destroying everything they see and killing everyone they find. Also Mortal Online has the same kind, or worse, community, and is still there and selling). Just must say the truth when advertising, that it's a free game, with all the content avaliable to anyone, but with limited gameplay time per week for free players. And now there's also a "new" russian game, on early acess, buy to play, on the same style as haven there, and it's doing fine!

About the "kept away the free players" topic, I'm a free player from w7, living in a country that makes buying a sub the same as buying food for the entire month, and yesterday I recharged my international pre-paid card with 150 bucks to buy 3 months of subscription, and I'm now currently waiting for it to be credited so I can actually buy! (yeah, 27 USD will be almost 150 bucks on my currency)

About bots, subs is already a way to battle bots. You can't simply bot on a free account with the time you get on it. And if u'r paying a sub just to bot, and not to play, sorry, but it's the same as paying to get in a club and stand still just watching everyone having fun ;)
But I agree on study tables and things like the fate system wich prevents from botting to find "rare curios".

And, I support legacy haven open source :P

We had a discussion with my village m8 about player population yesterday, we couldn't figure why there are so few people on this game - which is for me, for us, one of the best game ever made. I mean some shitty games get easily 10x more ppl, so why not haven?

I don't think the price is a real answer as it was free for years and had the exact same problem.

Don't have a good answer to give, but i really hope more players will get interested. The game is really good, really addictive, so devs please continue the good work.
On the other hand i try personnaly to get more ppl joining by writing on forums about it, making a little section in a huge forum about video games. Maybe some other players can also make more ppl coming. I really think if players love this game we can make a little buzz around and get some friends coming. But still the main question remains, why so much people don"t stay, why this game doesn"t bring more people at least to test it?

Main problem on haven is the lack of advertisement! I just found haven last year, when googling for survival sandbox mmo. I know it's listed on mmorpg.com, but there's not even a really good review for it there, there's a interrogation for wheter it has pvp or not, unknown launch date, no votes for it. Mostly people will not even think about looking at it's link, and those who are desperatellyg looking for something different and click on it, will not get interested when they read "currently in development" and look at the screens (from legacy haven).
Also, steam is STILL the best way to advertise ANYTHING (reallym there are even people selling musical softwares not even related to games there).
Also, one cool thing that would attract a LOT of players to at least TRY haven on steam are the steam trading cards! Many gamers will only download haven because of the cards, and testing it can make at least half of those get addicted to haven!

I try my best to advertise haven, but I'm not really good with publicity skills, and it mainly revolves on the actual players telling friends that haven is the best thing they ever found.

I don't know the prevalence of it, but for every thread on the forum about a newbie quitting because they were murdered/burglarized/vandalized there are probably 10 or more who do the same silently. I do not think most people realize how ruthless the game is until they are pointlessly butchered.

Right at this moment, there are probably 10 or so people trying the game out. Most of them will quit when they can't figure out how to get more LP, or make a fire, or why they're naked, or how to cut down a tree, or how to build a house, or that people can just run up and take your things. If they do figure out how to play, they may quit because of the slow pace. Even though I remembered how to play, I found early game Hafen to be confusing and discouraging.

Then there's the late game things, which are lacking. People quit out of boredom or go on a killing spree then quit because they're dead. Great planning.

But really, I think lack of exposure is the problem. I quit before because of inactive development and the curio system, but I heard of the reboot because I still checked the forum every few weeks/months. The only prominent videomaker who's covered it was ProJared, which was of the old version and showed off a lot of flaws that have been fixed.
Come back two hours earlier.

50% of the nooby quitting could be solve in 1h of dev work :
- add a pop up in the spawn zone telling people to give name to the old guy and then click the fire
- take 1 h to manualy put 200 stones in the noob zone

For now I think the game is fine. It is constantly improved and will someday find the correct formula. It is not the moment for listing it on greenlight or go early acces, because at the current state I'm afraid that negative reviews will overwhelm the positive ones and people will stay away from it. Just keep up the work you are doing devs
