Webm's

Postby pedorlee » Thu Jan 07, 2016 7:05 am

I'm not very sure where to post this.
I'm quitting smoking and I'm getting mad and I can't sleep... I'm in a very bad mood right now.

Ok, so I'm trying to encode or create webms through open source programs. I bet on them but sometimes i get pissed off... This is why:

I'm using this info here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/webm/comments/ ... m_support/
I've downloaded this:
WebM-Converter from github. That thing needs ffmpeg, so I've downloaded it too. The problem comes when that "thing" comes with nothing to install it other than console commands, i guess using the msdos shell.
The other option is using the path enviroment and adding the ffmpeg, wich is confusing as hell.
Any tip on how to use it?
Also please someone answer me this: Why should I be using the command line in windows? If I want to get pissed of I would be using Debian or other "friendly" enviroments such as freebsd.

Ok: WebmConverter looks like it works without rolling down the hill.

Go the directory that has FFMPEG.exe in it.

then in the blank area of the directory shift+right click and select open command window here.

Code: Select all
ffmpeg -i input.mp4 -c:v libvpx-vp9 -b:v 1M -c:a libvorbis output.webm

"input.mp4" needs to be the full path to the input file

or you can just drop the input file into the same directory, and call it input.mp4

There is no exe. I've downloaded it from here http://www.ffmpeg.org/download.html

One more question!
I've succesfuly learned and saved webms. I'm nearly ready to start doing cool stuff.

My question is:

Webm is html5, and this forum is a phpbulletin board or something like this. How do I post a webm??
Any good webm hosting for this purpose?

Thanks!

Use the vloop command to post webms.

For example: [ vloop ] randomhostwebsite.com/generic.webm[/ vloop ]
