So, combat and "School" set ups..

so I havent exactly played haven a lot during the years, last world was the first time I fought well, anything with relative success thanks to a few guides that popped up on hunting.
But it got me wondering, because without those guides - i wouldn't know ANYTHING about it; And even now, if i'm fighting anything above ants, i'm clueless as to how to set up my "skillset" i guess;
Like how do I know what abilities they're using? How do I know what to block with, etc? Because the game tells me well what defensive abilities they are using, but when it comes to my own defense, it seems like I am expected to just trial and error it? Is there any guides out there when it comes to this? Because I'm quite frankly clueless

Begginer Fu contains Watch it moves/Quick dodge/Jump/Punch/Left hook. It's enough to take on most animals. Their non-ip attack is mostly green/blue and ip attack is yellow. Boars tusk romp is counter with red, and aurochs have non-ip yellow attack. Bears might have red ip attack, but im not really sure.

I might be able to post some video tutorials once I have some better stats that allow me to tank for extended periods of time and talk
