Beginner Perception Food?

Postby bunnyfun4 » Thu Mar 03, 2016 3:22 am

I started a new character recently and I'm wondering what kinds of beginner foods are good for perception. I'm trying to get my perception*exploration up so I can see the plants I need for farming

Eat some berries that give it, put in some LP into exploration to see WWW, dry them for carrot seeds and get into farming them.

It's much, much easier to just increase your exploration early until you can find WWWs. Some nuts and berries give perception, aphids give perception if you can raid ant hills without getting dunked on, morels give perception FEPs if you boil them but I can't quite remember where they fall on perc*exp compared to WWWs.

The starting berries are so terrible so i'd avoid them at all costs. They're pretty much a trap food. I'd try to make a fishing pole asap and fish for perc food. After that, i'd work on getting a boat then trapping deer with sticks and shooting them from a boat. Grilled frog legs are fairly decent at the start too.

Download a client that tracks berry bushes/trees on the map

Blackberries give .3 per
Hazelnuts give .15 per
Elderberries give 0.1 per

these can all be worthwhile if you're a brand new player/character and you use plenty of other filler food with them. Fishing is much more efficient though
Later you will see morels. Collect every Morel you find and boil them in a clay pot. They give 1 per each and are basically the blueberries of perception.
If you manage to kill a deer, venison is the jackpot of early game perception and you should be set for a while after that.
