Firstly yes I died secondly yes I am mad.
I always wonder what makes this game so "boolean", as Jorb put it a while ago. When if you see somebody, it's either hearth or get raped. I can't say I've had very many experiences where I met someone nice, and whenever it happened, we were in a situation in which we couldn't fight, like they were cowering behind a wall, or we were both naked newbs.
Is it the lack of trust? You can't just trust everyone you see, so it may be better off to just get the fight over and done with. But then, attitudes like that are what cause this distrust.
Is it competitiveness? Where you want everything you can get, and you'll be willing to pry it from the cold dead hands of every living thing in the world? But why would they do that when it's obvious that the character they're about to kill has absolutely nothing? They KNOW there's nothing to take.
Is it threat? That if someone's living nearby, you feel they might overtake you, so you decide to flatten their base?
Is it because everyone's a fucking bell-end? Probably.
Though I always do wonder about the nature of the hearth-lands, and why people act how they do.
I always thought it'd be pretty nice to have a realistic banditry situation, where you might be waylaid and they'd say "Your money or your life". But if you proved you had literally nothing, would they let you free? Or kill you anyway?. Or perhaps, maybe they'll kidnap you? A kidnapping would always be a cool situation, but I don't even think you can lift unconscious people. And where would you put them? They'd probably just lift your base and hearth home. Maybe something pertaining to that sort of crime should be added, wink wink?
So, if you kill people a lot without a second thought, feel free to say why, if you feel like it.
