Don't use puush

Postby ArvinJA » Tue Apr 12, 2016 7:53 pm

Puush images will disappear if no-one has looked at them for 3 months (IIRC). Since most people used to use puush for a long while, a huge chunk of H&H history has disappeared.

Instead of using puush, cosinder one of the following alternatives:

Alternative 1: ShareX - easy to use and set up to push straight to imgur
Alternative 2: Greenshot - a bit worse to set up and the imgur plugin has been buggy, but has a lot of features and you can set up a lot of different things with it.

Looking forward to going back to your thread in 1-2 years and still being able to view the images. :)

ShareX is God.

Source: Ex Puush user here.

Also Puush update once got replaced with a virus by some hackers. It's not a safe program to use.

I've always liked push, and I save the images I want then upload to imgur... But puush fucks up and lags more often than not lately so I might switch

Just switch, ShareX is objectively better. You can also do much more shit than puush can, for example film this and upload to a file hoster.

Also uploads to other stuff like gfycat or pomf.

I use both ShareX and puush and still use puush more often.

Account -> Settings -> Pools -> Export and a nice link is created to download all your puush photos from any of the pools if you want to keep them.

If you want to keep them. How would I be able to view an expired image that someone else uploaded?

My account is free so one month expiry time on screenshots that aren't viewed and yet I have images that date back to September 2015 so clearly someone is still visiting the threads I posted them in, they don't actually have to click the link itself for the image to remain. Otherwise I don't know it's obviously not ideal but I'm not gonna stop using such a convenient program just because my screenshots might not exist on a forum 2 years later. I suppose if you are looking at it from the perspective of maintaining history then I agree puush sucks but I kind of doubt two years down the line I'm going to have the sudden urge to reminisce upon the adventures of Willy Potter.

https://archive.org/web/ sometimes works if the image was archived.

I go back to look at things all the time, I've been logging everything haven-related since I started playing and you'd be surprised if you knew how helpful it has been.

As long as web spiders index the forum the images will be kept alive.
