I've time to kill.
I'm pretty outdoorsy. I like gaming, but it's second to my main pursuits, hiking, gardening, being a bore, that sort of thing. I had busted up my arm pretty badly, not through anything cool; just sheer dumb luck, slipped on black ice during late winter. All the stuff I'd planned to do - for work, for fun, all of it - came to a halt and I found myself feeling kind of a prisoner without my old interests. I'd yet to stumble upon Caves of Qud or URW, but I spent a lot of my time planning trips I was going to take when I could, reading a lot...
Finding Haven and Hearth was another pure accident. There's a lot about it I liked, and disliked, and worked for me personally - but none of that makes for a good story, I think.
I'd just finished stumbling through the swamp - which I did a lot, there was no reason for it, I didn't know what I was doing, and had figured out that you could use leeches to... Stymie bleeding, I think? But I was just doing it for the hell of it, really.
And here comes another player, stumbling through it - just to watch me.
So - imagine an idiot walking around in the swamp, in circles. Never stopping.
And my guest is just watching, transfixed. Maybe they wanted to ask me why, or maybe they knew I was just doing it to kill time.
We never exchanged words, but finally I left one of the blue flowers that I want to call bluebells down, and they took it. Then they left.
Nothing really happened. Maybe they were huge assholes, maybe they stopped playing, maybe they're still here. It was the best moment in the game I had with people, and the type of experience I wish I saw more often, but treasure for it's rarity, too.
