Isn't the world really really small?

Postby alioli » Fri May 27, 2016 7:44 am

Becuase I just walked for like maybe 1-2 hours max and I found a wall. I recall last time I played - I set up my base at the edge of the map (unknowingly) and that made me quit - because it really limited my exploration
The map is also <filled> with towns and claims - making it really really hard for me to actually find a good spot to set up without the danger of maybe getting wiped out the next day.
Is it just me or is this map really just too small?

Just move northward, there's some room there. Also, a lot of places are abandoned, so you can just ignore them.

Sounds like you spawned in an busy area (near the border, it seems)

the area probably has good soil/clay/water nodes too since a lot of people settled... these resources attract settlers and you'll find more players near higher quality ones

Claims and bases are everywhere because new player can spawn anywhere in the world when creating a character.

Yes, there are populated areas, but not as many as you think. When I spawned I had to walk some 2 or 3 hours, but I found the *perfect* hermit spot. As stated before, villages or claims are often abandoned, serving the solely purpose of being a memento for hearthlings of old and forgotten. The best way to check this is to look at the crops if they are tended to, or look for a hole in the palisade, for that indicates that the place has been raided and the inhibitants are gone.
