I have always wounded how people first heard about this game when its super hard to find a game with few people playing (in a large sense).
I first leant about this game because my brother was playing it, no clue how he found it.

Projared's video is bit outdated but still somewhat accurate.
My first contact with HnH was when I saw post about it on a Finnish imageboard. I initially decided to not try, discouraged by warnings of permadeath (assumed that dying is an inevitability that will eventually drop on to your head instead of risk lurking behind you) and somehow I assumed that the game was something like Travian. (If you haven't played Travian, it was basically old-school Clash of Clans that you had to play with desktop browser)
